TRIUMPH TR6 RESTORATION PROJECT

Great news!! (for me at least) - I've found the missing door windows. intact and in very good condition. I've also found a brand new. unused boot lining kit. which I had forgotten I had.

Triumph TR6. US re-import manufactured January 1973. with all relevant import documentation. BL Heritage trust have confirmed in writing that the car is genuine. which will allow it to be registered in the UK with an age related number.  This is a project car. which unfortunately. I am no longer physically up to completing. owing to age and aching bones.

As you can see from the photographs. the car has been dismantled and quite a bit of work has been done.

Body tub - new floors. sills and back panel have been fitted. The main body is in good condition. but there is some more work to be done around the edges.  Rear seat area has been cut out to effect some work on the suspension. Currently set up for left hand drive.

Wings. bonnet and bootlid – All present and in super condition. Very little work needed on them (see photos).

Chassis - totally refurbished and powder coated in black. Suspension rebuilt with all new bushes and right hand drive steering box fitted.   New front discs. springs and shocks. New rear springs and recon shocks.

Wheels – all five have been refurbished and powder coated in silver with five excellent tyres. There is an extra wheel there also. The US spec. wheel trims are present. but I personally would never fit them.

Brakes – Front calipers and pads are very good. Likewise. the rear drums and shoes are in fine condition.

Engine/gearbox – no work done. Engine turns over and the gearbox is 4 speed without overdrive. Odometer reads 42. 00 but I don't believe that for a minute!!

Seats – Seat frames are OK with original black vinyl seat covers. which are in good condition with no tears or wear.   The foam inserts are present. but really only serve as patterns for new ones. Head rests are good (Two sets for some reason. ). There are two black leather seats in good condition from an XJS. which should just about fit. (Haven't offered them up so not sure. )

Hood and frame – Frame is present and in good condition but will need cleaning and painting. There is a brand new. unfitted hood in black.

Fascia and instruments – Two RHD fascias (one teak. one walnut) and all original dials. which will need tidying up. Sony am/fm radio and CD player with twin speakers ready to fit.

Wiring loom – original loom has been checked and modified to fit right hand drive.

Windscreen – laminated screen in excellent condition. removed from frame. which. although sound needs refurbishing.

Petrol Tank – Wasn't happy with the tank that came with the car. so bought a refurbished one.

Door cards and internal panels  - All present. but probably best used as patterns for new.

What's missing  - Please don't assume this is a definitive list. but all I can see that's missing are both door windows. (I've searched high and low and cannot find them anywhere!) The buyer must take it that they've gone. but obviously if they do turn up they'll go with the car. Also missing is the centre section of the rear bumper. one of the door window winders (It may actually be there amongst all the bits. ) and all exhaust parts from the manifold back.

What you need to complete RHD conversion – RHD foot pedal assembly. RHD headlight lenses and a new hole in the bulk head to take the steering column plus the bits. I can't think of anything else.

All the ancilliaries are original and have not been tested (e. g. carbs. brake servo. master cylinder. etc. )

I've found the missing window winder mechanism. but still looking for the door glass. Forgot to mention in "bits missing" that there are no carpets - sorry!
