1971 Fiat Dino 2400 Coupe

An exceptional 2400 Dino Coupe. finished in delivery colours with pristine body/paint. all original interior and excellent mechanicals.

History of this car

We purchased our Dino from a well known perfumer in Brescia. where the car had resided since it was first registered on 24/11/71.

The recorded mileage is 60. 00 KM (37. 00 miles). which we believe to be entirely original in light of the exquisite condition of this example.

We imported the car in July of this year and it will be sold with an age related registration.

Body

The Italian climate has been kind to this car. The Bertone body is arrow-straight without a hint of rust or previous repair to speak of. Panel gaps are consistent throughout and the doors shut with a conclusive thud. Clad in her original delivery colour of Argento Metalizzato (606). the paintwork on our Dino is deep. blemish-free and show-ready. The glass is original and perfect. as are all pieces of exterior trim and bright work.

The two-tone Cromodora elektron wheels have been refurbished by us and are shod with new Michelin XWXs.

The underside of this car is equally impressive; the chassis is straight and rust-free. We have just carried out full Waxoyl rust-protection treatment.

Mechanicals

Although no receipts are on file (par for the course with Italian cars. which never have paper trails). the engine in this Dino has clearly been out in recent years for major overhaul. The car fires on all six cylinders upon the first crank of the engine and settles down to a sewing-machine smooth idle with no fuss. and displays factory oil pressure with no leaks. and no smoke!

This 2. 4 litre engine packs a bigger punch than the 2. 0 motor. Our car pulls strongly from low down and revs cleanly through the rev range. bellowing a howl that is surely amongst the very best of any engine that Italian car exotica have to offer.

The dogleg gearbox is a delight to use and snicks smoothly in and out of every gear.

Our Dino stops and steers as it should. Handling is surprisingly nimble with this car boasting independent rear suspension instead of the live rear axle fitted on earlier 2. 0 liter cars.

4 new Michelin XWX tyres – original equipment on these cars – have just been fitted. Don't be told it doesn't matter. as tyre type is critical to both handling. and looks of these Dinos.

MoT until July 2016.

Interior

The superb original quality of this car continues inside. The seats – as shared with the Lamborghini Espada – offer supreme comfort and are still finished in the original Blu cloth upholstery. which. along with the Rosso carpets. are in excellent condition.

The headlining is original and perfect.

The dashboard is again excellent. Veglia clocks and switchgear work as they should. There is nothing broken and everything is very crisp. consistent with a low mileage. cared for car.

The car is equipped with a period Phillips stereo.
