What we have here is one of the most elegant and understated sixties grand touring cars available. It is a 1966 Maserati Sebring SII fitted with the 3700 enigne and 5 speed gearbox. Our car was finished in Silver from new with Blue Leather. a combination it still wears today. and has the desirable options of Spoked Borrani rims and air conditioning. making this the most desirable spec for a Sebring. The car has been completely restored in recent years and still presents superbly today. Being an older restoration it is not concours quality but it is not far off. over £40k has been spent in recent years. including a modern Air Conditioning system fitted. to facilitate regular use. it drives extremely well indeed!

Maserati's survival strategy for the 1960s centred on establishing the company as a producer of road cars. The Modena marque's new era began in 1957 with the launch of the Touring-bodied 3500GT. A luxury '2+2'. the 3500GT drew on Maserati's competition experience. employing a tubular chassis frame and an engine derived from the Alfieri-designed 350S sports racing car unit of 1956. Suspension was independent at the front by wishbones and coil springs. while at the back there was a conventional live axle/semi-elliptic arrangement. Power output of the twin-cam six was around 220bhp initially; later examples produced 235bhp on fuel injection. Built on the short-wheelbase but otherwise similar chassis of the Vignale-bodied 3500GT spyder. the Sebring 2+2 coupé arrived in 1962. By now a five-speed gearbox. four-wheel disc brakes and fuel injection were standard equipment. while automatic transmission. air conditioning and a limited-slip differential were options. Introduced in 1965. the Sebring 3700 (or Series II) came with a 3. 7-litre. 245bhp engine. Some cars left the factory with 4. 0-litre units towards the end of Sebring production in 1969. by which time only 242 Series II cars had been made.

The car offered here was delivered new to Rome. although now UK registered. The car was delivered equipped with the factory options of air conditioning and Borrani wire wheels and LSD. A matching numbers example. it has covered a believed genuine 51. 00 kilometres from new. It is in the best colours. has an amazing history. and is one of only about 98 cars built. Altogether a stunning car which could be made concours with very little effort.
