Do you want to stand out in the crowd at car shows? Then this is the car for you. It's the only one in North America. You can spend a lot of time explaining that its a “Humber” and not the forerunner of a Hummer – although Humber made a lot of military vehicles but that's another story.
It's a grand old British car that will take you anywhere and bring you home. if you don't mind right hand drive. The important parts are solid and reliable – rebuilt engine. clutch. brake drum on the driveshaft. carburettor. wiring. combined starter and generator. etc.
It has a good magneto and is a reliable starter. It has two braking systems – a drum on the driveshaft actuated by the foot pedal and drums with external contracting bands on both rear wheels controlled by a hand lever. It is possible to lock up the rear wheels using only the foot brake – although not recommended practice! The cream coloured paint is getting a bit tired around the edges but it will still shine nicely. The fenders are newly painted and look great. The radiator shell is solid nickel silver and shines beautifully using a powered buffing wheel.
The tire are beaded edge Michelin “Cable” 760 x 90 on the front and well based 4. 50 by 20'' on the rear. There are three additional beaded edge rims. two with Michelins fitted.
The leather upholstery is starting to show its age but no obvious rips or tears. just a few hard spots.
The rumble – or Dickey if you prefer – seat is utilitarian – no buttons but comfortable enough for two slim adults or a few grandchildren. The convertible top is about 10 years old and very well made. There are no side curtains but they could be easily made if required.
The engine is a F head with intake valves in the head and exhaust valves in the block. Displacement is 1743 cc and produces 25 HP. Recent compression test shows 115 to 120 psi in every cylinder. The four speed gear box is shifted with a sturdy lever. controlled by a bronze gate. Reverse is locked out by a push button in the shift knob. Silent shifts are possible but practice and good timing are required. There is no shortage of spare parts. There is an enthusiastic club based in the UK. called the Humber Register. that keeps and manufactures spares as required.
The Register is an excellent source of information about all things relating to pre 1932 Humber automobiles and motorcycles A significant amount of information. including a original 1923 owners manual. has been accumulated by the current owner and will be passed along to the new owner.
The car has a wonderful history documented in both the original British Log Book and some old photos. It left the factory as a four seat tourer and was converted to a farm truck in WW2. It was rebodied as a two seater in the 1960's and rebuilt mechanically. The engine. gearbox. and frame numbers match. the rear axle is a slightly newer model. probably 1926. because the original 11. 4 axles had a known weakness and so the subsequent 12 HP model corrected this defect. The car is well known to the Humber Register.
For shipping reference purposes – the car is 13' 6” long. 5' 8” wide. 5' 7” tall with the top up. and weighs about 1500 lb. So it should fit in most garages. The wheel base is 9' 3” and the track is 4' 7”
The car is reluctantly for sale as the current owner feels he is aging more quickly than the car and therefore someone else should become its caretaker for subsequent generations.
The car is located in Nova Scotia. Canada. It is about 3 hours away from an ocean container port. and about 1 hour drive and a 2 hour ferry trip to the US border. The owner has moved vehicles to and from other countries and is willing to assist in any reasonable way possible. Budget figure for effortless containerised transport to Europe is about $4000 CDN– less is possible.
More detailed photos are available upon request and car is available for inspection by a third party at a mutually agreed upon time.

Hi. I noticed your Humber is listed on this web site a few months back. Is it still for sale? I'm in Pennsylvania. Thanks.
