1972 Honda N600 for sale

In the UK. the Honda N600 was marketed as a rival to the Mini – marginally longer but narrower and costing only slightly more at £589 (in '68). In Japan it was Honda's offering in the popular kei car class designed to negotiate Japan's crowded cities.

While in Japan the tiny Honda had just 354cc and was appropriately badged as the N360 to keep within tax laws. for export to Europe and the States a 598cc engine (N600) gave a higher top speed.

They were always a rare sight on UK roads and now UK-supplied right-hand drive examples are almost extinct with records indicating that just five cars remain on the road.

This 1972 N600 must be one of the most original examples left with just 18. 53 miles recorded and largely original paint. Even the tyres. we think. are original.

It was sold new by Speedway Cars of Acton to a Mary Gladys Rogers who. we think. covered the majority of those miles. The car comes with both the owner's manual and the service book. which. along with old MoTs. confirms the mileage to be correct. In total there are seven stamps in the book. though the car has covered just 200 miles in the last eleven years. We have just had a new (genuine Honda) head gasket fitted so the two-cylinder. air-cooled. four-stroke engine is running sweetly and starts first time with no smoke or rattles.

Like all early Japanese imports. rust was the big killer. often at a young age. however this Honda has survived remarkably. As previously mentioned this car is largely original paint and has never been restored or welded. It really is in quite remarkable order for its age. Similarly the interior. commensurate with the mileage. is remarkably well preserved.

On the road it's huge fun. The twin cylinder engine provides nippy if vocal performance and it drives just as it should.

An extremely rare car and probably one of the best preserved in the UK – perfect for a micro car or Honda collector.
