Launched in 1970. the Triumph Stag was a luxury Grand Tourer.
Envisioned as a luxury sports car. it was designed to compete
directly with the Mercedes-Benz SL class models. All Stags were
four-seater convertible coupés but. for structural rigidity and to
meet new American rollover standards at the time. the Stag required
a B-pillar 'roll bar' hoop connected to the windscreen frame by a
T-bar. A new 2. 5 litre. V8 was later enlarged to 2997cc. Most Stags
were fitted with a Borg Warner automatic gearbox although manual
gearboxes with over drive are highly desirable. electric windows. br/>power steering and power-assisted brakes were fitted as
standard.

This manual with overdrive example presented in Tahiti Blue with
black interior has recently been completely restored to a very high
standard and as such presents beautifully. The previous owner had
enjoyed a 15 year ownership and from the history file it was
obvious he had cared for the car regularly but having just passed
the 85. 00 mile mark. the decision was made to completely restore
and return what was a solid. reliable example back to its former
glory. The Stag was stripped down and subject to a full bare metal
re-spray in its original colour followed by whole new suspension. br/>rear shock absorbers. bushes and brakes before a full engine
rebuild was set about. Once the major components were completed the
car was treated to new chrome. wood dash. stainless steel exhaust
and a reconditioned hood with the original seats presenting so well
they were amongst the few things not replaced or restored. Upon
completion the car was put through some light running in and
fettling before acquiring a 12 Month MoT test certificate valid
until August 2016. Having now made the decision to sell. a
fortunate new purchaser has the opportunity to capitalise on
someone else's hard work and dedication.
