1963 Morgan Plus 4 Roadster - One of the Finest Plus 4 Examples, Original CA Car

We are proud to be offering for sale what is easily one of the best and most original Morgan Plus 4 examples available. This is a two owner. original California black plate example that has always made its life in Southern California. Originally black on black from the factory and retaining its original and highly desirable TR4 motor and Moss 4-speed gearbox. this is a rare little car.  Of all the classic British post-war roadsters produced. no other car is quite as unique or charming as the Morgan Plus 4. With a simple and strong drive train. agile handling and a truly visceral. sporting drive quality. sitting behind the wheel a well-sorted Morgan is ceaselessly grin-inducing. Timeless and distinctive styling never fails to garner appreciation. part of the reason these iconoclastic cars are perennial favorites at shows and touring events.  The car starts easily. idles consistently and pulls strongly and smoothly through each of the gears. We have never had the pleasure of driving a Morgan this mechanically strong and correct. This is an incredibly special car deserving of any British sports car enthusiast and collector.

A Southern California engineer purchased this Plus 4 Roadster (chassis number 5325) new and kept it for 37 years. at first using it as a daily driver and then as a secondary. weekend car. The owner decided to sell the Morgan to his friend in Thousand Oaks. California in 2000. A serious Morgan enthusiast. he used it in a similar capacity for the ensuing years. before making the decision to completely overhaul the car mechanically. The original engine and gearbox were professionally rebuilt in Southern California. the carburetors were rebuilt. and the fuel system. brakes. suspension. cooling system. etc. were overhauled. producing one incredible driving machine while retaining all of the cars originality. The second owner was a meticulous caregiver to say the very least. The car could not present any better both cosmetically and mechanically. Everything on the car had to remain correct and original under his ownership.  

The results of his efforts is an example that presents beautifully. The rare factory. correct black paint is in excellent condition. marred only by the most minor of imperfections. none of which appear in any of the pictures. The panel fit and gaps couldn't be better. The paint finish deep and lustrous and the body is incredibly straight. All of the brightwork is flawless. all of the glass and rubber is excellent and the original wheels are in great shape. wrapped in tires with plenty of remaining tread. The undercarriage is clean and rust-free and all of the ash wood is perfect. The leather seats show only the most minimal of beautiful patina. the carpets are excellent and the dash wood has been nicely and properly refinished. The car comes with its original soft top. a brand new soft top. a boot cover and its original side curtains. Everything works as it should. including all of the gauges and the car's rare optional upgraded Lucas headlamps and bumper mounted driving light.
