A unique Rolls Royce for the most discriminating collector. Chassis 3DL94 is fitted with the original engine Q88N. The chassis came off test on 19 Sept. 1938 and was dispatched to the renowned coachbuilder Freestone and Webb. The original owner. Kenneth L. Bilbrough was a shipowner and marine insurance broker with the firm his father started in 1862. When he ordered this beautiful Rolls Royce he was Chairman of the firm and had decided it was time for an automobile that would match the status of his position.

Mr. Bilbrough had some very specific requirements for his new automobile that would prove to be unique features in the P III series of automobiles. His primary requirement was that the car fit in to his existing carriage house. This meant the car had to have an overall length of exactly 17 feet 7 inches from bumper to bumper. It needed to be a cabriolet designed for all weather conditions. This is the only Freestone and Webb cabriolet built for a P III chassis. Another requirement was that the car needed a centre gear change rather than the traditional right side position. Mr. Bilbrough was replacing a Packard 120. which had a center shift and he preferred this over the traditional placement. This is the only center shift configuration P III produced. The final unique feature is the face color combination of the gauges. This automobile is fitted with white face/black number gauge dials. The only P III produced this way.

Freestone and Webb met every requirement of a very particular buyer. This Four Light. Four Door Cabriolet carries all of the unique features listed above to this day. A very original car. it has never been repainted; finished in Forest Green with black wings and a black hood. The interior is upholstered in soft black hides and the original dark green carpets. Some minor paintwork was completed on the front wings as there was some slight scratches created when the car was shipped to the United States in 1962 when purchased from Mr. Bilbrough's estate. The interior is original other than the seats which were retrimmed in the 1970s.

A new mohair hood has been fitted in the 90s as well. Still in the ownership of the second family to have the pleasure of owning this beautiful automobile it is now being offered for sale. The car has covered fewer than 35000 miles from new and is a very strong running car. Completely recommissioned and ready to use it has been deemed a “strong runner” not suffering from any of the maladies found in high mile examples according to Tim Jayne of Dennison-Jayne Motors. a renowned Rolls Royce/ Bentley specialist in the U. S.
