This listing is for a 1975 (N) Range Rover classic. The car is on the road with a current MOT and tax. It is reliable. original* and mechanically spot on.
*Originally a petrol V8. the engine was swapped in 2004 for a LandRover 2. 5 Turbo Diesel 19J engine. This engine has recently been rebuilt and after a gruelling 600 mile road test. 400 of those miles pulling a twin axle Ifor Williams trailer complete with S3 LandRover. I can confirm that the engine is pretty good and the car performed admirably without any problems!
This Range Rover has not been restored or refurbished and has been in constant use since at least 1994 with MOTs and TAX discs every year since then. She is in pretty much original condition apart from the engine and a colour change from what I can tell. although I suspect that. rather like Trigger's broom. she has had parts repaired and replaced over the years.
Having just spent 2 days collecting LandRovers with her towing a large trailer over a 600 mile radius and including virtually every hill in Devon and Cornwall. I can state that she drives well - if slowly on hills - and without drama. The original 4 speed gearbox with overdrive operates very well and the features - such as they are - on the car all operate correctly.
The original colour as shown in the original logbook (included) was gold (not the red shown in the title description) and she is now a dirty white. The interior is quite good although in need of a clean. The tailgate is solid as is the chassis and although there are small areas of rust here and there. the inner wings and sills etc are all good without any problems.
Due to their relative few numbers. all old Range Rovers now deserve a bit of love and this one is ideal for someone looking for a cheaper car on which they can carry out a rolling restoration to bring her back to her full glory.
Current MOT expires in July and I can't really see any reason why she won't fly through another one with ease. Sadly not quite tax exempt but due to the new changes in legislation. only now 1 year away.
Main horrors: lack of headlining - remains of old one look dreadful. Paint is not great - would look better in original colour and done properly. Carpets past their best and mirrors are just quite awful if original. Otherwise. puts a smile on your face and everyone who passes you!
The car is of course exportable and every assistance will be given if buyers are based abroad. Delivery can be arranged within the UK and Europe and help with shipping is no problem to any destination worldwide.
Viewing is welcomed - the car is in St. Austell in sunny Cornwall.
