Due to an unexpected loss of storage space. I am offering up for auction at a "very low" reserve my 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider 1600 Normale Spider "barn find".   I received this email from Alfa Romeo Archives:

with reference to your request we are informing you as follows.

According to our documentation files. the chassis number AR 372806 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider (101. 23). manufactured on the 14th September 1962 and sold on the 29th September 1962 to Alfa Romeo Inc. . Newark. USA.

The body colour is red.

The Giulia's & Giulietta's are becoming some of the most desirable production Alfa's available today.   They are appreciating  nicely and premium examples  are commanding very high prices and becoming excellent investments while the market continues to appreciate.   With that said. this original unrestored Giulia Spider represents a wonderful opportunity for the Alfisti  that always wanted a Giulia or Giulietta. but could not afford their appreciating values.

Vin # AR 372806.

1600 engine number is:  AR*00112*00524.

5 Speed Transmission.

Mileage estimated at 102. 00

Manufactured in September 1962.   Titled as a 1963.

The Alfa has been barn stored for many years and will require a full restoration.   It is mostly original and still retains the original factory color and correct 1600 engine.   The vin # designates this as a 101. 23 series normale Spider.   The Alfa is mostly complete and is in running condition.

The body appears to be in original un-restored condition.   As you can see in the pictures there is old accident damage to the driver's side headlight area.   There is also some body damage to the passenger side door jam area.   It does have rust where you would expect to find it.   Rocker panels. floors & trunk pan.    Has original factory wheels.

The interior is essentially original except for the carpet/mats.   Still has the original factory radio block off plate and original gauges.   As you can see. the original steering wheel has been retained.   The seats are in poor condition with the passenger seat pan being rusted beyond repair.   Has the convertible top frame. but no top.

The 1600 engine is in running condition.   (#AR*00112*00524).   The Alfa is fitted with an electric fuel pump. and starts easily with the turn of the key.   Engine shows good oil pressure and sounded good. however the buyer should expect to rebuild/refresh it as part of the restoration.   At some point the engine was fitted with a modern type japanese alternator - this required the factory air cleaner to be modified as shown in the pictures.   Gas tank is in good shape and does not leak.   Brake and clutch hydraulics are inoperable from sitting.

As stated. the Giulia represents a wonderful opportunity to be brought back to it's former glory.   To be clear. it will need a full restoration.   It is essentially complete with all of the important components (including correct engine) which is the most important part of selecting a car to restore - especially with vintage Alfa's where many parts were hand fitted.   This will make this a relatively straight forward restoration especially now that there are so many more reproduction/restoration parts available now.   As stated. these cars are appreciating nicely and would make a very sound investment for the Alfisti that always wanted a Giulia or Giulietta Spider.   Comes with a clear title North Carolina title.

I will be adding more pictures within the next few days.

For the motivated buyer. I will consider ending the auction early.

The fine print:  If you have 5 or less feedback transactions. you must contact me prior to bidding.   A non-refundable deposit of $1000. 00 is due within 24 hours of the auction end.   If the deposit is not received. the Alfa will be offered to the next highest bidder.   The balance is due within 7 days of the auction end date.   The car must be picked up within 10 days of the auction end date.   A $10. 00 per day storage fee will be charged after the 10 days unless prior arrangements have been made.   I have sold several vintage cars to overseas buyers with the buyers being extremely pleased with the sale.     If you have any questions. do not hesitate to contact me.   I will do my best to answer any questions you may have.
