GRM39 was delivered to D. Stewart Fraser at Moons Motors. Dorset House. Marylebone Rd in London which was designed in 1935 by the noted architect T. P. Bennett - his works included Saville Theatre and the Doulton HQ in Lambeth – the whole Art Deco facade was made from majolica by Royal Doulton (the frieze is now displayed in the V & A Museum). Dorset House has a surprising connection with Rolls-Royce in that the sculptures on either side of its entrance having been designed & carved by Eric Gill who designed the Rolls-Royce typeface. The 2nd owner was Sir Gerald Osborne Slade of Beckenham a prominent lawyer – in 1945 he defended two wartime traitors - William Joyce (Lord Haw Haw) and John Amery – both were convicted and executed. Later owners include E. R. Ives a scion of the prominent merchant Ives family of Norwich – in the last 1700s the family acquired Catton Hall and commissioned Humphrey Repton to landscape the garden.
