This extremely pretty Mk2 looks fabulous in its original colour of Sherwood Green. It's a wonderfully period shade and makes a refreshing change from the usual red and British Racing Green Mk2s you tend to see.

Sold new in Erdington. Birmingham in 1961. this Mk2 has been completely restored in the early 90s and cossetted ever since.

We have a photographic record of the restoration that detail the car stripped to a bare shell in bare metal. then carefully rebuilt with a completely retrimmed interior. rebuilt engine and refurbished running gear.

The body and underside are superb with excellent gaps. a lovely paint finish and the underside is simply superb with perfect crows feet. jacking points. sills and spring boxes. All the chrome is in superb condition and the door rubbers have been replaced.

The wheels are chrome wires with a matching set of Vredestein Sprint Classic radial tyres. including the spare.

The interior is quite simply delightful. It has been beautifully retrimmed in the correct shade of green leather and recarpeted. The front seats were changed to XJ recliners. which are far more confortable yet appear factory. However the purist will be pleased to know that the original front seats come with the car. All the door cards are perfect. the headliner has been replaced and the wood veneer is excellent. Inside the boot is nicely trimmed with the original carpet and the tool kit remains intact.

Mechanically this Mk2 is in factory correct specification with no modifications. The rebuilt. matching numbers engine is very sweet and performs superbly. the Moss gearbox is the slickest we have encountered and the overdrive engages and disengages on demand. It's a wonderful thing to drive and proves that power steering. big brakes and different gearboxes are not essential to the Mk2 experience.

Accompanying the car is a substantial history folder including all bills from its restoration and a photographic record.

This is an extremely good Mk2 that will ask nothing of its next owner other than to be driven and enjoyed as intended. We'd like to keep this one ourselves.
