Dodge : Power Wagon WDX

In 1948 Mr. Henry Uihlein II a member of the family that owned and operated the Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company in Milwaukee WI. purchased a new Dodge Power Wagon WDX. for the primary purpose of snow plowing on his farm - Heaven Hill near Lake Placid. New York. The truck was the 600th Power wagon off the line in 1948 built in Detroit Michigan.

In 2007. the truck was purchased from the Estate Trust of Heaven Hill Farm then sent to Beal and Company in Hendersonville N. C. for a frame off restoration. After the restoration it was been driven a total of 4 miles in 7 years. The original mileage on the truck is an amazing 13503 currently on the odometer. as this truck was only used for plowing. in a no salt environment on Heaven Hill farm. The engine has not been rebuilt due to the low mileage. and compression tests show 100% proper function. It is extremely rare to find a WDX Power Wagon with as low a mileage. Clutch was indeed replaced. and transmission rebuilt.

Upon acquiring the truck in 2014. I had it sent back to Beal and Company for complete mechanical service and maintenance. before shipment to Nova Scotia. This includes but not limited to:

- New Stainless Fuel Tank and lines. sending unit and NOS Fuel Gauge.    

 - Hubs all removed. cleaned. bearings replaced. new gaskets etc.

- New Brake Pads all around. Truck has all new brake lines.

-Complete professional Carburetor rebuild and restoration by Vintage Power Wagons of Iowa.

-New Water Pump. New thermostat.

-All new hoses and clamps.

-New engine wiring. plugs. 6V coil and ignition.

-New shocks and all new mounts.

-Radiator re-cored and restored. Cooling system flushed.

-Original Mopar Heater cleaned. flushed. core cleaned 6V motor serviced.

-Crank case flushed and cleaned.

-Front end. Rear-end. Transfer case. Transmission all flushed and cleaned and new fluids.

-Seat completely restored with proper kit and springs repaired by Interior Auto Specialist.

-New Pintle hitch currently in shipment from VPW. will be installed before shipment.

The truck also has new 6V Wiper Motors from the 2007 restoration. as well as many new parts. Amazingly it still sports the original headliner. The truck is 100% authentic and correct now as to when Mr. Uihlein ordered it in 1948. Yes. the stake-bed is original. as is the gate. The only non-correct items are the Silver Painted Fenders which I think look fantastic. Everything works on this truck! All new original non-directional tires of course. with only 100 miles on them. This is a truck exactly as it came off the line in 1948.

If anyone is worried about having a power take-off winch. this is easily installed. as transfer case has the access plates for both sides. front and back PTW. Parts available from VPW. The truck was not ordered with one. so I have kept it original 100%. I also have the original Jerry Can dated 1945. but it needs restoration. I am including that obviously. and a small box of spare NOS parts. All receipts from original restoration and my restoration supplied. Also even has original tracings for door emblems from Heaven Hill. Provenance on original owner and Heaven Hill available on request.
