Jaguar E-Type Challenger Replica for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2) based on 810 votes
I started building this Challenger E-type in 1990 and got it on the road about six years later. A house build in-between caused a considerable delay as did the resulting shortage of cash. It has the factory chassis number 286 and the donor car was a Daimler/Jaguar XJ6 4. 2 automatic. The engine was totally rebuilt and although the autobox was used initially I have since replaced it with a 4-speed manual box with overdrive. The Mohair roof was added some years later and the hard top was relegated to the garage. The interior design follows that of the original series 1 quite closely. but the seats are larger and more comfortable. I have toured the Highlands extensively and had one major trip around the South of Ireland. I estimate that the mileage covered since building cannot be much more than 10. 00. Re-designing the dash has meant that several speedometers have been used. I am finding it harder and harder to get in and out - particularly out with a body that is telling me that the time has come to sell my jag. It has proved to be remarkably reliable with minor fuel blockages now overcome by inline filters. To improve ease of starting I removed the dreaded AED choke and rebuilt the SU carburretors complete with manual chokes which now work most effectively. Electronic ignition has also proved beneficial. The vehicle is currently on SORN. The car is registered on the log book as a Challenger E-Type. The car comes with a multitude of receipts. many related books and manuals and a garage load of spare bits and pieces including a stripped down engine not to forget the fibreglass hardtop.

The car is currently being completed for spring 2020 and will be open to a realistic offer based on it's new appearance as an OBL, flat floor, alloy dash replica.

This car may be up for sale again in the coming months. It is partly re-built with many early features to replicate the very early OBL cars. It may well go to auction to get the best price, currently £50k +. See my FB page 'Anthony Terence Jones' for details of work done to date and updates on progress.

Hello Andrew. I was the one who purchased this car in 2013 from this advert. The car is still undergoing re-build / restoration to early Series 1 specification. It may eventually be up for sale to the highest bidder once finished. There is a current blog on my FACEBOOK page showing what has been and current work on the car.

This car, in finished form, apart from engine compartment should be on display at the NEC in November on the Challenger O.C. Stand for those who wish to see it. Also check out the Challenger O.C. website in the coming months for updates.

To all those interested, this car is currently in my ownership and being restored and altered to correct spec. as a complete replication of an early 1961 alloy dash, flat floor, outside locks E type. Pictures will be posted on the Challenger Owners Website early in 2016 when the car is nearer completion. After this, if it is ever offered for sale, IT WILL BE EXPENSIVE!!

from Dan, dated 17 december 2015
I'm not familiar with the website... I hope I'm writing about the dark blue Jaguar "Challenger". The car is just beautiful!!! I live in the states, but I travel a lot. Can you tell me if the car is still offered for sale? If so, could you tell me an approximate area that the car can be seen? Thanks so much in advance! Dan
