EQUIPMENT
Sunroof. Original Pioneer cassette stereo with graphic equalizer. Hella fog lamps. Lockable petrol cap. Rear wiper and washer. Electric Ariel. VW over-mats. Heated rear screen. Adjustable door mirrors.

EXTERIOR
Still in its original factory coat of paint. this Mk1 GTi is in beautiful unmolested condition. having been in the hands of just one careful owner its entire life. The paintwork still shows a deep shine after all these years. with only a few stone chips to be found to the edge of the bonnet and the red grill surround. Having been garaged throughout its life. the GTi has avoided any corrosion issues to the bodywork. all the panels remain straight and true . Under close inspection and due to the unforgiving nature of straight black paintwork there are some very light surface scratches to be found on some of the surfaces. however nothing unusual for paintwork of this age. The plastic trim of the wheel arches and bumpers are all in excellent condition with no damage to report. Smaller details such as the door handles. badges and decals all remain in fine original order and the full set of original mud flaps are still affixed to the car. Both front and rear lights are free from any cracks or moisture.

INTERIOR
Opening the door on the Golf you feel as if you have been transported back to the 80′s with its time warp condition and familiar Golf scent. Both front seats are in astonishing condition. still feeling as firm and supportive as the day they left the factory with no sagging or damage whatsoever. The rear seats look unused and remain in perfect condition. Looking across the dashboard you notice all the surfaces still retain a deep ‘new' looking texture due to a lack of use and sun exposure. The car is still fitted with its original Pioneer cassette/radio and a factory option graphic equalizer. The door cards are in exceptional condition. free from any damage or usual scuff marks. Both the black vinyl roof lining and deep pile carpets are also unmarked. the carpets protected in the foot-wells with a pair of VW over-mats.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
With just 16k miles on the clock from new. this GTi is a rare find indeed. Much of the early service work was carried out by the supplying dealer. Karman VW and more recently in 2012 the car underwent a major service with Lookers VW. This inspection included a full service. brake fluid change. cambelt and alternator belt replaced. rear exhaust box replaced. coolant flush and much more. The 5 speed manual gearbox feels smooth and precise to operate.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
The Golf still sits on its original 13″ alloy wheels. As expected with original wheels of this age in their factory coat. there are a few minor scuffs between them. although nothing that detracts from the cars overall condition. A new set of Bridgestone tyres were fitted to the wheels during its most recent service at Lookers VW. The brake system has also had a new set of front pads and discs. rear wheel cylinders and shoes. plus a brake fluid change.

HISTORY FILE
The GTi has been in the hands of just one careful owner its entire life who ordered the car new from Karman VW. It was purchased from the dealer in 1983 who also carried all of the early service work from 1983-1991. The last stamp in the book was carried out by Karman VW in 1991 at 15. 81 miles. The owner has recently taken the car to Lookers Battersea VW for a mechanical overhaul including a full service. brake fluid change. MOT. new brakes. belts. engine tune. exhaust box. coolant flush as well as other replacement parts at a cost of £3. 00.

The original VAG service booklet is still present along with invoices for service work and replacement parts.
