Devotees of the Triumph marque champion their particular favourite. Having owned all of them. from the long-door TR2 to the latest TR6. they undoubtedly all have their claims to fame and qualities. Triumph was a successful company until the mid 70s. and the TR^ was the biggest selling TR by some margin. Of the TR6s. what is undisputable is that the early 150bhp model is the one to have.

Whilst this write-up is a sales pitch. it is also a salutary tale of the costs of restoration. When considering undertaking a quality professional restoration. the end bill will often exceed the value of the finished item. In this instance by some margin!

In 2001 this original right-hand drive. UK market TR6 was entrusted to Rees Brothers. a well-respected firm of classic car restorers. The total cost of the restoration amount to £38. 00. Included in that sum was a labour charge of £19. 60. The net result is very impressive.

First registered on October 10th 1970. the Triumph has had just five former keepers and is finished in Signal Red with a black interior and hood. One modification that deviates from standard specification has been the fitment of Mazda MX5 reclining seats. which have been retrimmed in red-piped black leather in a period style. This is a popular modification on the TR6 and. since they've been retrimmed. look entirely inkeeping and provide substantially improved comfort and support.

The accompanying paperwork on this TR is comprehensive. with all bills. invoices. past MoTs and a photographic record of the restoration all present.

The result is a fabulous. near concours example of what is undoubtedly the best driving TR. which is equally at home on country lanes. Alpine passes or anything inbetween. If you factor in the value of the donor car. around £45. 00 has been spent on this car. Isn't that a reassuring feeling?
