An unusual car. not to be confused with various average examples out there. Delivered new to Singapore in 1958. built to a specification which included ‘tropicalisation'. and fitted with factory air conditioning. sundym glass. and various other special features. all to special order. Also has power steering. By 1968. the car was in Hong Kong. where the son of the then owner took the car over in 1983. and brought it back to the UK 1988. since when it has covered just over 4. 00 miles. as confirmed by a complete run of MoT certificates from 1988 to 2015. and staying in the same ownership during this time. It seems that father and son owned the car for about 47 years. and we strongly suspect that the current mileage showing of 74. 00 is genuine. As a result of the life it has lead. the car is (very importantly) remarkably sound in wind and limb. with none of the usual rust issues. as well as being correct. original and very enjoyable to drive. The original red leather interior is somewhat faded and mature. which is very appealing. at the same time remaining soft and supple. Paintwork has polished up nicely. and the bright work has survived very well. again due to the life the car has had. On the road. the car feels lively. sharp. and drives as a good example should. All in all. this represents a rare opportunity to acquire a rare. desirable specification. nicely correct Silver Cloud. free of rust issues. which should be rewarding to own and cherish. Offered MoT tested until March 2016. We are hoping to replace the rather inappropriate 'F suffix' registration number. issued to the car when it returned to the UK. which a more suitable. age-related. three letter. three number combination.

Chassis No. SFE237. Reg No. XYY 173F. (but see above) £32. 00.

Snippets: Exported to Singapore on the SS Bendoran (The origins of the Ben Line shipping company can be traced back to 1839 – when their first sailing ship Carrara was completed in order to transport marble from Italy. The routes were later extended to Canada. the Far East. Mediterranean & the Baltic). The first owner of SFE237 was Aw Cheng Taik. a scion of the wealthy Aw family whose business interests were extensive – Tiger Balm. Mining. Newspapers. Banking & of course Politics. There are many books written on the family which make fascinating reading and the information on the family is extensive. Aw Cheng Taik was just 12 years old when his father Aw Boon Par (1888/1944) died and was the only child of his father & his 3rd wife – Teo Hong Yin.
