The Mercedes-Benz W113 SL was developed under the auspices
of Mercedes-Benz Technical Director Fritz Nallinger. br/>Chief Engineer Rudolf Uhlenhaut and Head of
Styling Friedrich Geiger. The lead designers were Paul
Bracq and Béla Barényi. who created its distinctive. br/>patented. slightly concave hardtop. which inspired the
'Pagoda' nickname. The model was manufactured from 1963 through to
1971 and boasted an in-line straight six engine with multi-port
fuel injection. The larger capacity 280 (2. 8 litre) was introduced
in 1967 and remained largely unchanged until 1971.

We are delighted to offer this UK registered. righthand drive. br/>280SL Pagoda that has been in the current ownership since April
1996. Between 1996 and 2000. it only covered
approximately 200 to 300 miles a year and. in 2000. was
laid up in dry storage where it remained until 2014. On its
awakening from hibernation. some re-commissioning works were
required. these included; new brake pads. discs and calipers. a new
exhaust system and a service; these works were carried out by Roger
Edwards. a well respected Mercedes-Benz specialist based in
Amersham. Buckinghamshire.

The Pagoda's coachwork looks very smart in its livery of dark
blue and upon making a more detailed and closer inspection; the
floors. sills and engine bay bulkhead appear exceptionally sound;
these areas being commonly weak points on this model. The exterior
bright work is very clean and the lights. especially the Bosche
headlights are all excellent and in working condition. The interior
is in very good order and the occupants also have the benefit of
the sought after. Becker Grand Prix radio. The only deficiency we
can spot is the lack of a spare wheel. however; with so many
specialists. it should not be difficult to rectify the matter.

This Mercedes-Benz Pagoda. being the more desirable and powerful
280 model with its larger capacity engine. benefits from a current
MoT test certificate valid until January 2016 and is complete with
both its soft and hard tops. Mercedes-Benz Technical Director of
the period. Fritz Nallinger. stated. "It was our aim to create
a very safe fast sports car with high performance. which despite
its sports characteristics. provides a very high degree of
travelling comfort". There is nothing else to say than this
Pagoda is ready to enjoy especially with the spring and summer soon
upon us.

Please note: We are informed by the vendor that a
hardtop is not available with this motor car.
