This auction is for my 1971 Toyota Corolla Sprinter affectionately known as "Kevin" and he is a restoration project that I started but. sadly. am not able to see through to completion.  There are no other Sprinters available for sale in North America that I've been able to find and they are exceedingly rare!  Kevin is 99% complete. although you can see from the pictures that I have already taken him mostly apart.  The only piece that is missing is the carpet. which. unlike nearly every other part on these cars. is not unobtanium as there are reproductions available online.  Kevin's odometer is sitting at 33. 83 miles. although given the fact it's a 5 digit odometer I would hasten to say there's a chance that's been around once.  I can't be certain though as he hasn't been driven in a fairly lengthy amount of time.  That said. we changed the oil a couple of weeks ago on him and he fired right up -- however the carb is gunked up and the idle was running extremely high. so that will need to be worked on.  Kevin also comes with 4 brand new tires and rolls easily. his engine runs. he has an automatic transmission (although I would swap this out for a manual if it were my choice. a 2 speed automatic will not provide much joy to the end user) but please do not be under the impression you can just driven Kevin home.  He will most definitely require transportation and significant work to be road-safe.
This is most definitely a complete restoration project.  All the bones are there. all the parts are there (save for the carpet) and some parts are available in the aftermarket. particularly rubber seals for the windows and some of the indicator lights on the outside are available on eBay from Thailand.  As it is right now. Kevin doesn't leak into the cabin at all.  The seats are all there in factory 2-tone black and beige. the fronts are not too bad although there are definitely some splits and the rear seats are structurally there. but they are badly split as Kevin obviously sat in the sun for a prolonged period of time and the back seat has dry rotted as a result.  The parcel shelf also shows similar damage.  When I say all the parts are there. I mean it. even the stock Toyota wheel chock is included and the original manual and radio as well.  Even the uber rare Sprinter script badge on the trunk -- and the mounting pins haven't even snapped off!  All the glass is in GREAT condition. no cracks or rock chips anywhere!  I took pictures of many of Kevin's parts individually and there are many more that I can't fit into this auction listing that I also took pictures of. but trust me. they are ALL there (except the aforementioned carpet of course) -- tail lights. headlights. inside doorhandles. window winders. original Fujtisu Ten radio. guage assembly (although this cracked and will require plastic repair). seatbelts. all badges and scripts -- although most chrome items will require re-chroming as part of the restoration process.
I have tried to take pictures of the trouble areas on Kevin. but in case it's not obvious. he has surface rust on the roof and drip rails but in general the body itself is quite clean.  The driver side floor is very solid. but the passenger side floor is a bit crunchy and the bottom of the passenger door is bubbling a bit.  Also. as can be seen in the pictures. the rear area and under the trunk in the spare tire well has some holes and has seen better days.  As such. the rear and passenger side will require rust repair and fabrication of sheetmetal unless you are aware of replacement panels existing that I am not.  Why am I not saving Kevin myself?  Alas. although you can see that Kevin is sitting at an autobody shop in the pictures (my friend's shop). I lack the necessary skills and knowledge to complete these repairs myself and my friend does not have the same interest level as I do.  He doesn't want to charge me going rate for fixing it -- the whole mixing friends and business thing -- nor does he have the time with all the other easier and higher profit jobs he has going.  And. to be honest. I don't have the money or time to treat Kevin how he should be treated.
My dream was to fix Kevin up and put a 4AGE in him with a 5-speed manual as it looks like this is possible with mere inches to spare in Kevin's tiny engine bay.  I imagine he would be a great deal of fun at 140hp given how light he is with rear wheel drive. lowered tastefully with a set of charcoal coloured Watanabe rims on him!  I had envisioned keeping the same colour but maybe adding in a bit of metallic to really set it off.  He's got a lot of spirit and I hope you can see the potential in this cool. sharp looking JDM coupe with the lines of a hatchback.  I hope someone shares my same vision!
Kevin has a clear title. is located in Vancouver. Canada and has no liens or any other issues that would prevent your future ownership.  He definitely would require shipping as he cannot be driven and it would not be safe to do so in his current condition.  Shipping arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer although I am more than willing to do anything I can to help out with paperwork or arrangements.  Please feel free to ask me any questions you might have and I will do my best to answer them and/or find the answers.
Cheers!
