With over 125. 00 MG B 4 cylinder models produced over its 18 year life span the MG V8 with only 2500 examples produced in 3 years looks like

One of the rarest muscle cars produced in the 1970's.

Lets be honest MG tried to fill a large gap in their range by introducing the MG C in 1967 and they failed in spectacular fashion with a combination of bad press and poor pre production development work.

It took an independent enthusiast though called Ken Costello to show them how to shoehorn the brilliant Rove/Buick engine into their shell.

Indeed MG even commissioned Ken to build them one of his “Special V8 MG Bs” in order to save development time and money.

This lovely example has been owned by its last owner for 16 years and has received ongoing maintenance as necessary meaning she is in wonderful condition today.

Finished in Damask red from new she has covered 66000miles backed up with one of the most comprehensive history files we have seen.

She was also supplied from new with Ziebart rustproofing and a webasto folding sunroof.

I had not driven a V8 for years and this one just took my breath away with its evocative V8 burble turning into a glorious roar when pressing on.

With overdrive on 3rd and 4th she is a great long distance cruiser and you could set off anywhere knowing that you will have great fun in this underated car.

The MG B V8 is an enigma really as its costs a fraction of its peers like the E type or Aston Martin whilst being rarer and in many ways more entertaining and useable!
