This magnificent first generation Mustang convertible has an interesting story.
The last owner has owned the car for some 26 years. He purchased it for his daughter after she was born.
He also did this for his son with a Mustang fastback. Alas we could not purchase that one as well.
The fathers uncle was a gifted restoration expert. as he was retired he was entrusted to restore both Mustangs.
What a job he did! The only reason we were able to purchase the convertible was that a deposit was needed for the daughters first house. The family had taken it to many shows and won several medals. Photos are with us. The car has lived in Arizona for many years hence the condition. The restoration was complete. engine . gearbox. body work etc.
A few weeks ago I was asked to show the car in Germany at the Classic Days car show. Similar to the Goodwood Revival here.
I drove the car from Brighton to Brummen north Germany and back. The car drove perfectly and cruised at 70mph happily all the way there. The auto gearbox ran smoothly and the engine sounds superb.
It has had power steering fitted and power brakes making it an absolute pleasure to drive. The big v8 burbles gorgeously!
As you may see it has the original radio still in. Although underneath the dashboard is a more current radio/cd fitted.
Many people asked what the colour is called . it is tropical turquoise. It has a black hood and white interior to match the original specification in 1965.
The underside is just as clean as the top. check the video carefully.
This has already proved a great investment for the last owner. The value of this car can only go one way.
