This is a superb older restoration. a really well driving example of the most desirable specification Mk. II. This is a 1961 Jaguar MK. II 3. 8 M/OD. but a factory supplied 3. 8 manual car. not a conversion. It has been in the previous owners posession for over 33 years. was comprehensively restored in the late nineties and still presents beautifully today. It is finished in Opalescent Dark Blue with Grey leather interior.

During the restoration the body was completely stripped and fitted with new front wings. inner and outer sills. spring mounts and jacking points. coombs spats and bonnet louvres before a professional resray in its original colour.

The Engine was rebuilt to include re-ground crankshaft. re-bored. new pistons. camshaft. timing chain. oil pump and fitted with a Gold Specification cylinder head and 2" SU Carbs. It is all fully balanced and producing approx 260 bhp.

It has a rebuilt all synchromesh overdrive gearbox. new clutch. rebuilt axle and prop shaft complete with Salisbury Limited Slip Diff. The car has four pot vented discs to front. standard to rear.

During the restoration. the car was fitted with Vicarage power steering derived from the XJS and spax adjustable shocks all round. The radiator was rebuilt with an additional core. a new stainless exhaust system was fitted throughout and a complete retrim by Suffolk and Turley to original specification. It has covered about 17. 00 wonderful miles since restoration and is now ready for its next proud owner.

Justifying his conclusion that the Jaguar MkII 3. 8-Litre was one of the world's best saloon cars. Motor Sport's Editor William Boddy had this to say: “We consider the explanation easy - here is a car capable of 125mph. of devouring a quarter mile from a standing start in not much more than 16 seconds. and endowed with a full complement of Dunlop disc brakes which are well able to cope with high performance of this calibre. Add to this the ease with which this 220 horsepower Jaguar can be driven. the sense of well-being conveyed by its hide upholstery. deep seats and polished veneers. its silent functioning and its very complete equipment. and no one. surely. will dispute our claim”.

One of the most readily recognised cars of the 1960s. Jaguar's MkII saloon set the standard for the class throughout its entire production life and today remains highly prized by enthusiasts. With the advent of the MkII. the 3. 8-litre version of Jaguar's XK ‘six' became available for the first time in the company's medium-sized saloon. which in top-of-the-range. manual/ overdrive configuration was a genuine 125mph car capable of reaching 60mph in 8. 5 seconds. outstanding figures for a saloon of its size even by today's standards.

This is a fantastic car. taxed and MOT'd. with perfect upgrades. in the perfect colours. available at a fraction of the cost of some on the market. we expact this to be here days. not weeks at the asking price.
