A particularly correct example. which has a quality and character difficult to replicate in a car that has been restored. The grey paintwork is old. and not without blemish. but the car is solid. the doors close with a satisfying ‘thunk' and the interior is delightful. partly re-trimmed. but still correct and lovely. and retain some appealing fitments. Mechanically very good. with a sweet engine. driving well. with a ‘go anywhere' feel. Just back in the UK. after spending five years in Gibraltar.

Chassis No. GLP29. Reg No. CTF 326. £42. 00.

Snippets: Delivered to Peter Reid at Euxton Hall in Chorley. Peter had purchased the Hall in 1927 from the Ince-Anderton family. this Catholic family are important in English history and can trace their lineage back to King Edward III; at one stage a member of the Ince-Anderton family stood 10th in line to the English throne. In 1850 shortly after his marriage to Emma. daughter of 9th Earl of Fingall. William M. Ince Anderton inherited Euxton Hall (built in 1739 by his grandfather also William). William made enlarged & modernised this beautiful mansion and he commissioned the Victorian architect E. W. Pugin to design a Chapel to be built within the grounds of the Hall. this was opened in August 1866 but sadly Emma died just 2 months later and in her memory William commissioned a stained glass window depicting her praying. In 1949 Peter Reid died and in 1950 his executors sold the Hall to Sir Stanley Bell. JP. OBE & MP and GLP29 was purchased by James Mason & Co – the firm can be traced back to the late 1700 when it was known as Elkingtons. George Richard Elkington & his cousin Henry experimented with gilding base metals which in turn led to them registering patents in the business of electroplating. When George Richard Elkington died in 1865 his estate was value at £350. 00 and the firm was inherited by his 4 sons – Frederick. James. Alfred & Howard.
