1968 Triumph TR250

Code named `Zest'. the TR4 was introduced in 1961 as a replacement for the TR3A. Though based on the chassis and drivetrain of its much-loved predecessor. it cut a far more modern dash. thanks to an all new Michelotti-styled body. Other mechanical updates included a wider track front and rear. rack and pinion steering and an all-synchromesh gearbox. The short-lived. but now much sought after. TR5 was visually identical to the TR4. but notably more potent thanks to the 2498cc straight-six that sat in place of the TR4's four-cylinder unit – a total of just 2. 47 TR5s left the factory between October 1967 and November 1968. Built over an almost identical period. the TR250 was effectively a TR5 for the American market. whose engine was fed by a pair of Zenith-Stromberg carburettors in place of the TR5's fuel injection system. With 111bhp on tap. the model could achieve the 0-60mph sprint in 10. 6 seconds.

This exceptional example is finished in Sapphire Blue with Black upholstery. It was subject restoration in 2011 and has been used sparingly since. Delivered new to California and formed part of a well known classic car collection in Orange County for many years. The hood is in very good condition. the hood frame we understand is the original and is complimented with a cover and full Tonneau.

The engine is unmodified from the original specification and sits proudly in a detailed engine bay.
