1968 Lotus Elan Plus 2 - Red with Black Trim - Superb Throughout for sale

This is an early example of the more spacious ‘Plus 2' Lotus Elan in. quite simply. beautiful condition.

Finished in 2011. this Elan received a total restoration by an engineer that took seven years. We have a full photographic record of the restoration that started with a new galvanised Lotus chassis. new suspension. brakes and a fully rebuilt engine and ended with a total repaint of the bare body and an all new interior. Along with the photographic record there is also a substantial file documenting all the bills for parts and services required during the restoration.

The engine rebuild included new pistons and it was uprated with ‘fast road' camshafts.

The suspension had Koni dampers and polyurethane bushes added to its specification. The braking components have been entirely replaced including the calipers. The alloy wheels are new. and The driveshafts have been upgraded to the improved CV joint type.

Before painting the body received new sill members. All the wiring harness is new and improved. The chrome has all been replated too.

Importantly. the standard of fit and finish throughout the car. including underneath. is superb.

First registered on 10/04/68. this Elan retains it original and valuable plate. 20 GOX.

Such a thorough restoration has resulted in a superb driving car that not only delights in its handling and lusty performance. yet proves equally capable for long-distance touring.

Buyers have cottoned on to what fantastic car the Plus 2 is and values are rising fast. In this condition our Elan offers tremendous value for money.
