Porsche : 911 SC coupe

I purchased this 1979 Porsche 911 SC coupe earlier this spring after it had been parked in a "barn" for approx. 5-6yrs. I drove it about 1. 5 hour home. It handles good and drove down the interstate at 70-75 fine. The steering and suspension seem good and tight.   The engine leaked oil bad and I replaced the oil bypass valve oring. oil pressure sender and oil cooler seals and it isn't leaking as bad now. It still leaves drip spots when parked. like lots of old air cooled motors.  The 5spd transmission was rebuilt several years ago. I have no receipts but I have some of the old parts that were replaced which include the clutch and some synchros and a shaft.

The Porsche was originally Guards Red and painted metallic grey in the early 90's. The front and rear bumpers were replaced with fiberglass at that time. as well as the fiberglass whale tail added to the original decklid. The Porsche doesn't appear to have been in a wreck and the body is straight. It has some rust spots in the following areas: lower part of door jamb on each side. bubbles in the lower pass. front fender. the area under the battery tray.   I checked around the car with a small magnet and these are the only areas I could find. The floors are nice and solid.  Under the doors/hood/fender/decklid edges are nice.  The Porsche originally had AC but the compressor. brackets. and switch are gone. The hoses. drier. condenser are still there. I don't have the tool kit. I have the jack but it is messed up. I have the spare tire even though its not pictured. I don't have any extra parts.

The interior will need complete restoration. The seats have been recovered in a velour material and some carpet has been laid over the original. The little seat pads in the back are gone. the visors were redone and not installed. The power mirror switch is disconnected. and the sunroof switch isn't working. The heat is disconnected.  The steering wheel has some movement which is common.   The lights. wipers. signals work.  

 The engine starts up and the car runs and drives. The transmission shifts through all gears. It needs some adjustment on the clutch cable for the pedal. I drove it home when purchased but have only driven it up and down the road a few times in the last couple of days. The odometer shows 147. 00 but I didn't notice it turning.  It needs new exhaust.  I have only done the following: New plugs. wires. cap. rotor. fuel filter. rubber fuel lines that connect to the hard lines. oil line at the reservoir tank. oil cooler seals. oil bypass oring. oil sender. and  changed oil/filter. I didn't adjust the valves or check them.   I haven't done anything with  the CIS system. I wouldn't recommend driving it too far home since it needs to be gone through. Although I drove it home last spring I probably should have trailered it.

 It is a great car for a complete restoration. back date. track car or whatever you feel like. My plan was to put it back stock guards red with the polished window trim and black interior and maybe 17in fuchs. and a different front bumper. but I hurt my back earlier this year which has slowed me down and already have one other project . a 1977 911s that I need to get ready for the body shop. I started replacing the fuel lines and fixing the oil leaks last spring and the car sat unfinished until last week. I had steroid injections in my lower back two weeks ago which made me feel good enough to crawl around and connect the lines and install the oil cooler to get it back running so I can list it for sale.  I made a mediocre video with the Ipad that I will post to show the engine running and the overall condition of the car (if I can figure out how to download it). I have tried to make a good representation of it so there aren't any surprises to the new owner.  This is a true auction with no buy it now price. If you are serious just bid what you are willing to pay. I only plan on listing this once. so hopefully in 7 days the 911 will have a new owner. The great thing about classic 911's is they are appreciating monthly so it will be a worthy project.
