The car has undergone a complete cosmetic and mechanical restoration over the last three years.

Paint.  The car was chemically striped three years ago.  It was damage free except for the passenger side rear fender. which was modestly dented and filled with body filler. The bondo was removed and the panel properly metal finished.  There is now a light skim coat (paper thin to perhaps 1/8 inch of body filler in lower portion of panel.  The car was painted with the correct color of black per the paint code on the car (has slight hint of cherry color) as were the alloy wheels which are a brighter shade of silver. than the other TR7s and 8's with factory alloy wheels.  The paint was PPG base coat/clear coat which was color sanded and polished.  Correct decals were obtained and installed.  The original bumpers are in good shape and the front spoiler is the correct OEM plastic one.

Top and Tires.  At the same time. a new convertible top was installed (from Rimmer Bros in England) and new tires (205/60 R13) all the way around to include the spare.

Interior.  The interior was replaced in 2007.  The panels and shelf carpet were obtained from Victoria British.  The carpeted areas are now light grey Wilton wool from Rimmer Bros.  The correct Lecarra steering wheel and center were found and installed.  The seats were custom done in San Diego by a shop that does Porsche interiors and were as close as we could come to the original.  The driver's side seat is showing signs of wear across the outside top corner where the seat belt drags across it.  Original sun visors are now available on a limited basis from Aldridge Trimmers in England and have been installed.  The radio is a modern CD player; I have the original period radio and will be glad to install that if desired.

Engine and transmission.  The engine. upper and lower end. have been completely rebuilt (Bill Barclay. master mechanic at International Auto Repair in Escondido. California) replacing all lower end components. replacing the crankshaft. and cleaning. re-seating. and re-shimming the valves.  Timing chain and tensioner replaced.  The transmission was open. inspected. and the shift bushings replaced.   A new clutch was fitted with the new engine.   I've just rolled over a 1. 00 miles on the rebuilt drive train which is running very well.

Cooling System.   The radiator has been re-cored within the last 2. 00 miles and the water pump replaced with the engine rebuild.

Air Conditioning.   Removed during engine rebuild.   Compressor and support bracket provided with car but not installed.

Suspension. brakes and steering.  Everything under the car was taken apart and inspected/repaired as required.  All of the suspension bushings are polyurethane making for a great handling drive.  The struts and rear shocks are KYB brand.  The rear brakes were completely rebuilt (shoes. wheel cylinders) and on the front. the disks were replaced. the calipers cleaned and kitted. and pads replaced.  The brake master cylinder was replaced along with the engine rebuild.  The brake servo has been replaced/rebuilt several times over the 13 years that I've owned the car but can't say with certainty when the last one was. The steering rack had gotten sloppy after 80. 00 miles so had that replaced as well.  The sub-frame and cooling fan surround are painted the correct color of grey for the Spyder edition of the car.

Fuel System.  The gas tank was cleaned and lined about seven years ago.  The fuel injectors have been cleaned or replaced in the last three years.  The fuel injection ECU has been replaced with a re-manufactured unit as has the air flow meter.  The fuel pump and filter have been replaced with new units in the last 2. 00 miles.  All of the fuel injection lines are new.  The fuel injection pressure regulator. oxygen sensor. temperature and pressure senors have been replaced in last 2. 00 miles.  The car just passed the bi-annual California smog test so would say the the catalytic converter is functioning properly.

What it is and ain't.  I've made every effort to restore the car to an original state where it can be safely driven and enjoyed.  It is not a 99 point concours trailer queen.  As you can imagine. a lot of money and time has been spent to bring the car into this condition.  I'm going to loose a lot of money on this but had the satisfaction of creating something nice. The car is reasonably priced to find a good home.
