Great story here.   Fully restored !  This original California 'Black Plate' 1965 Jaguar Mark 2. 3. 8 Litre left hand drive Sedan was ordered in early 1965 by a wonderful couple from Southern California. from the factory. but for European delivery in the Spring ! Unfortuately. nbsp;the husband feel ill shortly afterward and passed away mid-year with car still on order.   The widow. nbsp; looking to fulfill their dream of driving the JAG in Europe completed the deal and proceeded to go to Europe later in the  year and took delivery of  the Mark 2 as planned.  Mrs. Stokes. fulfilling their dream. nbsp;boldly proceeded to travel throughout Europe in the 'Jag' (Germany. nbsp;France. Portugal. nbsp;and the Middle East. Lebanon and such).   I have several comemorative medallions from the countries to bestow that were previously mounted on the car).   Having realized the dream of touring Europe and the Middle East. the car was imported to California where Mrs Stokes resided for many years to come.   After a complete retirement some years later relocating to Sun City West. Arizona. nbsp; Mrs. Stokes passed  in 2004 and bequeathed her Jaguar Mark 2 to family; Her son. Mr. R. Stokes. nbsp;in Texas. nbsp;took receipt of the Mark 2. nbsp;stored the car but eventually decided to offer it for sale and advertised the car in the old 'CollectorCar Trader' Magazine in 2005 which I came upon at the local newstand in northernwestern Virginia.   I set about contacting her son. nbsp;having been in love with Mark 2's since I first saw them at the age of 15.   After hearing the love story and dream of his Mom and Dad wanting to tour Europe in a Jaguar. nbsp;and the Mom fulfilling that dream. I made a deal with the proviso that I would restore the car honoring and serving the kids fond memory of the car and how proud they were of their elderly Mom 'on the road again' driving her JAG !" I'm told many a tour up and down the California coastline along Route 1 was thoroughly enjoyed by Mrs. Stokes.

Flash forward 9 years later.   Well. here we are.   The 'Stokes' Jaguar Mark 2 is restored to its former glory.   Much effort has been expended and as much care befitting the car as possible has been taken.   The car was close trailered to Virginia and then to the reknown 'Cloverleaf Services' JAGUAR shop in Malvern. Pennsylvania where the mechanicals and electrics were brought back alive. i. e. suspension rebushed. nbsp;new fuel tank. brakes fully reworked. radiator cooked and tested. electrics woken-up with fine-tuning by the Master Mechanic and partner in 'Cloverleaf' (This Master Mechanic vintage races an XK 140 in the Vintage Race Group).  At 50. 00 miles. the 3. 8 Litre Dual Overhead Came engine purrs. with a starting 60-80 psi oil pressure.   I forgot to mention. recently. as an upgrade that the original Lockheed Brake Servo unit was replaced with the new XK's Unlimited 'Girling' Brake Servo unit which eliminates the old brake fluid storage resevoir and the associated piping runs as well as other potential leakers.  Brake pedal is as advertised for the Girling unit. superbly improved in response.   Pancake filters on the individual SU Carbs have been added in lieu of the 'old air filter' arrangement. therefore exposing the beautiful 3. 8 Litre overhead cam valve covers to full view and sporting up the engine.  Also. we recently added a new windshield wiper motor and resevoir unit and two speed windshield wiper switch all good.

To the body and interior.   The original leather interior was weathered from the dry Southern California and Arizona climates and was removed. substrates rebuilt and covered with tan. biscuit cream leather hides accented by dark green piping and dark green wool carpets. The woodwork was removed and placed in the hands of a Rolls Royce and Jaguar woodwork restorerer. then finished with an applied. nbsp;mirror finished. bookmatched 'burl walnut finish' and it shows. You can see yourself in it's reflection.

The body (original BRG paint was crazed and cracked but the car is truly a dry no rust car having resided in its early years in California and Arizona). after the mechanical restoration. was trailored back to Virginia. nbsp;was hand sanded. nbsp;stripped (not chemically) to bare metal. etched and resprayed in British Racing Green (the 2002 'S' Type BRG color. non-metallic) The work was done by an old country craftsman whose experience repetroire over his 40 years of bodywork included in his youth the curved fuselages of Lear Jets and then later very many a classic car (Hudsons. Chryslers. Jags. MG's. 50's Corvettes. Mercury's. sports cars. muscle cars. you name it).  By the way. 'Coombs Spats' have been retrofitted over the rear wheels for sportiness. These were designed by the famous Factory JAGUAR SPONSORED 'Coombs Racing Team' which won many a Sports Car Racing event in Europe.  The original. unrestored rear spats go with the car and will be shipped loose in the boot.

Other subjects.   Control panel inside the car toggle switches are operational though the 'Map light' switch is non functional; Interior courtesy lights over the back seat good to go. High beam. low beam good to go as is the main exterior light switch for running lights. etc.  The dash lights make you wonder if they are on per usual for Lucas.   An 'Intermotor' Sport Coil has been added (40. 00 volt coil).   As mentioned before. windshield washer is new (from SNG Barratt USA) but look out. it will spray the car behind you (what a beast). Can't think of anything else. oh. new rubber seals and gaskets and stainless steel exhaust system. Original jack and a brass knock-off hammer included.

What I haven't done.  I have not touched the original 'Blaupunkt' radio (tried but can not get any life from it. believe it is toast. but it is the authentic original and was as installed as an option as delivered by the dealer.  The tires. Could be original. The 'red line' radial Michelins on the CHROME SEVENTY-TWO SPOKE WIRE WHEELS and its ORIGINAL WIRE WHEEL SPARE sure look original but don't think the rubber came on the car given the amount of tread they show. but a lot of Mark 2's show with them as the original fittment. Not sure.   I am providing a set of four NEW 'Redlines' (Cokers) and will mount and spin balance the wheels if so desired OR will ship the new tires loose if the buyer so chooses. nbsp;OR will credit their worth off the purchase price ($720. 00) provided the reserve is met if the Buyer doesn't desire to have the Cokers.   If you are about car shows and concours judging. you may want to leave the tires as they are.

Lastly. this beautiful classic 1965 original Jaguar will show as the ULTIMATE collector car it is for any outing.  This is a spectacular. magnificent car to show at all THE most unique special events. point to point races.
