The Bristol 410 was the fourth series of Chrysler V8-engined
models and the last to use the 5. 2 litre engine originally found in
the Bristol 407. With the 410. Bristol aimed for a more aerodynamic
approach than that found on their previous five series dating back
to the 405. The styling improvements were relatively minor but
every one of them was aimed to make for a more curved appearance.
The most noteworthy change was that the front headlamps were fully
faired into the wings of the car rather than protruding outwards as
on previous models. Bristol. like Chrysler before them. by then had
felt that the safety problems of push-button automatic transmission
were too difficult to counter and thus they shifted to a more
conventional lever mounted between the two front seats.

This fine example was recently passed to the current owner from
his grandfather who owned and used it since 1970. Indeed contained
within the history file is correspondence between him and the late
Tony Crook regarding the discovery of the car's heater after 25
years of ownership. The mileage is recorded. as confirmed with Toby
Silverson of Bristol Cars. as 96. 09 with the transmission and
engine rebuilt approximately 6. 00 miles ago in 1994. A replacement
stainless steel exhaust was also fitted at that time and it is
thought that the suspension was also overhauled. but no
documentation exists for this.
In the last few months. the vendor has had all the core plugs
replaced. the carburettor cleaned. the brakes rebuilt and fluid
changed. The oil has also been changed with 20/50 oil. new spark
plugs. new HT leads. new anti-freeze and a new fuel pump and modern
oil filter adapter upgrade. It sits on four Avon Turbo speed tyres. br/>as you would expect it comes with the original optional radio. It
passed its MoT test on the 6th of June and starts easily and is
reported to drive well. Also enclosed in the history file is the
original instruction manual. spares handbook. and workshop manual.
The original Gentleman's Express and loved by collectors with a
more discerning eye.
