The Triumph TR3 was built between 1955 and 1957 by
Standard-Triumph in the United Kingdom. during which time only
1. 86 cars were produced for the home market. According to
the TR Register. as of 2002. there remain only 893 registered
TR3/3A's on UK roads. Although it was usually supplied as an
open two-seater. an occasional rear seat and bolt on steel hard top
were available as extras. The car was powered by a 1991cc engine
which initially produced 95bhp increasing to 100bhp at
5000rpm. The four-speed manual transmission could be
supplemented by an overdrive unit on the top three ratios. br/>electrically operated and controlled by a switch on the dash. In
1956. the front brakes changed from drum to disc. becoming the
first British series production car to be so fitted. Because
of these disc brakes. the TR3 and subsequent TR3A's became known
for their superior braking ability. making it an autocross
favorite. In 1957. the TR3 was replaced by an updated
version. the TR3A. Updates included new wide front grill. br/>exterior door handles. lockable boot handle and came with a full
tool kit as standard. although the TR3A's still retained the 1991cc
engine.

This beautifully presented TR3A has been subject to a total rebuild
prior to being imported from the USA and is offered now in Piano
Black coachwork with re-trimmed red leather interior. A rack and
pinion steering upgrade. new engine and clutch coupled with new
brakes are included in the list of works undertaken with the vendor
describing this car as a genuine 'nine out of ten' car and knocking
spots off of other TR3A's on the market. Interestingly. we
are informed by the vendor that the previous owner in the USA had
told him that he had to destroy the original bill for the extensive
restoration as he did not want his wife to find out that he had
spent over $60. 00 on it. The vendor also states that he did not
doubt this as he could clearly see that. throughout. the nuts and
bolts were new as. in fact. is much of the rest of this pretty
motorcar.

Offered without a V5 Registration document but with original USA
title and Nova certificate the new owner will need to register this
vehicle. Given the condition of this pretty roadster. we feel that
this estimate reflects good value and strongly advise viewing to
truly appreciate this motor car.
