Produced from 1963 to 1968. the Jaguar S-Type was a technically
a more sophisticated development of the Jaguar Mk. II. offering
buyers a more luxurious alternative. It was available with either
3. 4 or 3. 8 litre XK engines and featured longer rear bodywork among
other styling and interior changes. Despite its extra weight. the
S-Type's independent rear suspension allowed it to corner faster
than the Mk. II. especially on uneven surfaces providing better
traction and a much smoother ride for rear seat passengers with the
consensus that the S-Type offered significant improvements over the
Mk. II in road holding. safety and ride comfort. Described as "a
convenient family car. a businessman's express. a sports coupé and
a grand tourer. "

This matching numbers. UK righthand drive example presents with
automatic transmission and is finished in Warwick Grey with a suede
green leather. the combination with which it left the factory in
back in 1966 and is all supported by a heritage certificate from
Jaguar. It has a large history file from its three owners and the
78. 00 miles showing on the odometer are believed to be correct. br/>partially due to two long periods of dry storage. The car was fully
restored back in 2001 to include a re-build of its original engine
and. in the last six months. it has also been re-sprayed in
original Warwick Grey; had its bumpers and stops re-chromed and the
leather re-Connolised. Furthermore. it has also had new front
wheel-arches and sills installed. the wood veneers polished and a
full stainless steel exhaust system fitted. Mechanically. it has
responded well to a carburettor tune-up. a re-conditioned choke. a
new steering column. new rear brake discs and four new tyres.
Needless to say. it has also had a full service and MoT test. It is
reported to start every time. maintains excellent oil pressure and
drives and brakes well. In summary. an extremely well-sorted
example of Jaguar's natural successor to the Mk. II.
