1971 MGB Roadster Race Car. This car was raced in the MG Car Club BCV8 series with a V8 engine fitted. I was building it up for the MG Owners Club series to be entered in the Invitation category. All the body work modifications were professionally carried out to fit a Rover V8. I bought it as a shell and have fitted an 1860cc Blue printed and balanced race engine. The car is extremely light weight as it has fibreglass Sebring wings. doors. quick release fibreglass bonnet. boot lid and front skirt. The hard top is fibreglass in works style with lightweight plexiglass door windows. The car is extremely solid. However. there are some stress marks in the paint from flexing of the fibreglass panels. Overall. the paint work looks good. but it is not concours car. It is a raced car. The spec of the race car is:
1860cc blueprinted and balanced engine. High lift camshaft. Roller rockers. Skimmed and lightened flywheel. Ported inlet manifold. Ported cylinder head with uprated springs. Uprated Duplex timing chain. Alloy rocker cover. Alloy oil catch tank.
Tubular race Peco exhaust manifold and system.
K and N air filters
Kenlowe electric fan and thermostat
Uprated and modified twin SU carbs
Electronic distributor. Spare Aldon distributor with Lumination electronic ignition booster
Uprated front dampers. Spax rear dampers. New springs front and rear. Neoprene bushes throughout.
Uprated brakes. Fully renewed rear brakes. New handbrake. Vented drilled/ grooved discs. New pads.
Negative camber wishbones.
Rebuilt clutch and brake master cylinders
Copper brake pipes. Braided brake hoses
Facet race fuel pump. Filter King Malpassi fuel filter
Omex shift light
New front stub axles. New suspension bolts throughout. New front bump stops
New clutch plate and release bearing
New engine mounts
New steering rack. New track rod ends
Aleybars six point roll cage
Cobra race seat. Sabelt four point race harness
Race dual pull race extinguisher. Hand held extinguisher. Dual electric cut off safety switches
Sebring headlamp covers
Minilite 15x8 wide alloy wheels. Kumho 225 x50 x15 Medium compound race tyres
Some works still needs doing. The wiring needs connecting up. (There is a spare loom from another race car). The screen has a crack in the inner laminate and will need replacing. The brakes need two pipes fitting (supplied) and bleeding. The engine and gearbox came from a running race car that had an accident. It is untested and will need tuning. The carbs need cleaning/tuning. Alternatively. a Rover V8 could be fitted and raced in the Bernies V8 series. I have really enjoyed working on this car in the past. but just have not got the time now to complete due to my toddler little girl taking up my time! Collection from Fontwell. West Sussex. Viewing by appointment only. If you bid. you bid to buy! No lifetime guarantee. Sold as seen as a project to complete. To be collected within two weeks of auction end.
