relisted due to a complete and total waste of time bidder is my 1963 ROLLS ROYCE SILVER CLOUD III. why people bid on things they can`t afford is beyond me. but enough of that. if you are truly interested in owning this car then just call me on 864 616 6860. this car is VERY VERY solid in the body and the frame. if you know anything about these cars you will know that the right rear frame rail is very often rusted out. the frame rail on this cloud is like the day it was made! all the normal area`s that rust are in very good condition. the rocker panels. the rear edges of the front fenders where they meet the front doors. the flat area under the headlights. the bottoms of the front fenders et cetera are all in excellent condition. there are two places needing attention. firstly the bottom of the right front fender is dented up (see picture) and the stainless steel rocker molding was ruined. this happened when the car was coming off of a trailer and rode up on a jack stand left on the trailer`s deck. very silly and most annoying to say the least. but you can see how perfect the metal at the bottom of the fender is. bright shiny solid metal that looks like new. i took the damaged rocker molding off and the molding that will come with the car LOOKS LIKE BRAND NEW and shines as if freshly minted. the new owner can fit the molding after the front fender is repaired. the second place that will need attention is the right lower quarter panel. again it is VERY common for the lower quarter panels to rust out because there is a double skin of metal there that traps moisture. this one has had some repair work done many many years ago but it is not obvious. this area will need to be redone but the left quarter panel itself is excellent. check out the pictures of both quarter panels. all the door shut gaps as well as the shut gaps on the trunk and hood are excellent and after close examination it is my considered opinion the car has never been in an accident in its 50 year life.
the interior is all original down to the carpets. the leather is in very good condition and has no rips. tears or split seams. all the leather will respond very well to re dyeing and leather conditioning. again this is my considered opinion. i have done this many times and use a kit from a company in Pa who i would recommend highly. the three step process of cleaning. dyeing and conditioning can be performed by any able bodied person and the results are nothing short of amazing! i kid you not the leather in this car could look literally like new again for the $350 cost of the kit and a good bit of elbow grease. and if you want to change the interior color it is no problem whatsoever. just tell the company what color you want and they will provide it. red. blue. black. tan. any color you like. if this interests you drop me an email or call me on 864 616 6860 and i will give you the number to call. they are very nice people and have provided me with great service for over 25 years. all the power windows work very well except the left rear which just makes a clicking sound. it might need a new motor or it might just be a bad connection if you are lucky. i will include a working window motor just in case its not something simple like a bad connection. which is common.
the headliner is as tight as a drum and has no rips or tears. the original carpets are still in good condition but do need a good cleaning. i usually take mine to a local commercial dry cleaner who does large area rugs and the like and my car carpets come back looking like new for about $150. the wood in the car has very nicely figured veneers and all the veneers are excellent with no lifting. chips or peeling. the original lacquer finish is getting a little dull but it still has a presentable shine to it. all the door rubber sealing gaskets are very good and both the windshield and back glass have had new rubber gasket`s fitted several years ago. see close up picture. likewise the rubber trunk gasket is in perfect condition also.
the car has hardly been used for several years but still starts easily and runs very well. having said that the gas tank really needs to be drained of old stale gas and the fuel lines cleaned out and fresh gas put in. the carburetors appear to be in good order with no leakage or weeping. when stone cold the hydraulic tappets tick for a minute but then quieten right down. as they should. the engine runs very well even on the old gas. the transmission drops straight into drive or reverse with no snatching or lurching and the car pulls away and also backs up smoothly. the brakes work well enough to drive around the yard or onto a trailer but they will need to be thoroughly checked over before taking the car out onto the highway. the tires have good tread but they are old. a new battery has been fitted. the old girl would benefit enormously form a good tune up. spark plugs. oil change and so on. the engine does not smoke. knock. rattle or make any untoward noises at all. the power steering works well but has a very slight weep which will only get worse and should be attended to. but right now it all works just fine. a new water pump was fitted several years ago.
the body of the car is very solid and straight as stated. the black paint is another matter. the silver is fine and will buff out and look great but the black is cracking and lifting in many places. see pictures. the black paint is lifting in large flakes but underneath it there is bright shiny metal so i am thinking that the body panels under that black paint were not prepped correctly many many years ago when the lower half of the car was painted. the paint adhesion is great in the door shuts and so on but the upper surfaces that have had direct sunlight on them are cracking and lifting. but from a positive outlook it makes for a very honest presentation and you can see EXACTLY what you are getting. this is not some bondoed up pile of rusty junk that looks great because of a slick new paint job put on just to sell it.
in conclusion this old girl is a good and very solid car. she also has the advantage of good MODERN AIR CONDITIONING. see under hood picture of compressor et cetera. with a little TLC this grand old car will make someone a fine and very enjoyable car for years to come. silver clouds were incredibly well built to say the least. and putting your money into the right car is a wonderful investment.
the chassis number is SDW593 and the car has a clear title. i require FULL PAYMENT WITHIN THREE DAYS of the auctions end by CASH or BANK WIRE TRANSFER. IF YOU CANNOT MEET THESE TERMS THEN SIMPLY DO NOT BID. I do not want or need another Rolls Royce wannabe. oversea`s shipping is no problem at all. charleston port is 4 hours east of me and i have sent antique cars oversea`s before and know what is involved. if you need a shipping quote to anywhere in the world or would like more pictures just email me or call my cell on 864 616 6860 before 10 pm eastern standard time. the drive on drive off shipping service to england and mainland europe is approximately $850 and a 20 foot container is $2250 give or take a little. a 40 foot container is $2850 if you have other things you want shipped in with the car. i can arrange whatever suits your needs and shipping time is 11 to 13 days depending on where its going.  obviously prices can vary a little depending on the exchange rate on the day but as of this writing. 5/4/2013 the prices stated are a safe bet.  likewise if you want a shipping quote within the United States just give me a call. thank you all and good luck
