Huge Huge History File
80th Car Built of this model
Being no 80 built - Chassis No 860080. There where around 129 RHD FHC Flat floors ever built. making this car very rare. So if you want the ultimate E Type. a genuine UK RHD car. here it is. Supplied first to Hatfields. the car was built on 11/12/61 & dispatched 21/12/61. Colour Opalescent Silver Grey. trim colour red. There is a heritage certificate on file & the original buff log book.

Having a total of only 5 previous owners the cars history is well documented. It is hard to know where to start the history file is that extensive. On file receipts for parts. labour maintenance etc date back to as early as 1974 & is quite detailed. There is too much to list here individually. but any serious buyer is welcome to inspect the file.

Brief Early History

In 1981 the car was purchased by a Peter John Fox. The history file is supported by a full photo album of the time. shows the car underwent it's first full & major restoration. At this time the cars colour changed from Silver Grey to Red.

In the photo album some interesting features are a quote under one of the photos. showing the engine being removed & stripped quotes "not bad for an engine some 20 odd years old". It is interesting to see in other photos. early 1980's "modern cars & vans" including a Brand New MK1 Transit. today a 30 odd year old Classic! A photocopy of the log book is on file.

History in the 90's

Next probably the most famous of owners in the Jaguar Club world where Raymond & Barbara Guiver. Acquiring the car some 12 years later in 1993. The cars history at this point steps up a notch. Being obviously massive enthusiasts & members of the JEC Southampton Region. In a news article on file it states "the Guivers are in the papers more than Ginger Spice these days".

Firstly they restored for the 2nd time in the cars history

In a document on file Mr Guiver states the restorations was as follows:

Bare metal respray
New doors with new skins
New boot floor
New correct sills
New inner sills
Bonnet re-fitted
Kenlow fan fitted
Cooper craft brakes fitted on the front
Seat restored by BAS
New interior supplied by BAS
New interior fitted
New floors fitted
Waxoiled all inner sections
The car was then painted back to it's original colour along with the trim.

The photographic history of the restorations shows this was very extensive & thorough.

Touring History

The Guivers restored the car to use. & use they did. The car seemed to open doors for them. In the next 8 years they attended at least 22 major events & where special guests at some prestigious venues.

My favorites include:

The Tour of America ending in New York
Invited to Goodwood for the launch of the S Type in 1999
Victory at Portsmouth 1999
Invited to take part in the parade for Le Mans 24hr 2000
There are many others & what is very interesting is that Mr & Mrs Guiver documented many of the events in the history file. Each one documented isn't just with photographs. a detailed written almost story like log is with each. along with newspaper articles on each event. Making the file an interesting read.

During this time the Guiver's did around 14. 00 miles. which although well traveled is only just over 1. 00 miles per year. Which leads me to the mileage. There are loads of old MOT's with the car right back to the early part of the cars life. All with corresponding mileage increases. suggesting that the current mileage is in fact genuine.

In a heart felt letter in 2002. to the new owners (yes the Guivers sold her). Mrs Guiver writes to the new owner stating. they had chosen the new owner as the best candidate. & compared selling the car to marrying of a daughter. She states she hopes the two of them take care of each other & it is with their blessing.

Latest History

The car has since had further restoration work done to it. to keep it in its fantastic present condition. This including a repaint. interior work & engine. all as recent as 2011-2014.

The car comes with some of the best door gaps we have ever seen. & along with the best sounding & sweat engines we have ever heard. This car will be hard for me to part with myself. If I had to pick a car personaly as an all time favourite? You've guessed it. The only way I could improve on this car is maybe chassis no 1!
