After Land Cruiser - What was Far became Near.

Fuel Economy with Iconic Looks

I call this truck "Tico" as this Land Cruiser BJ40 was originally from Costa Rica. She's in excellent rust free condition. Her factory "B" diesel engine runs great and is very reliable. turn the key and she bursts to life every time.   I originally imported this BJ40 which took several months and was not easy. I don't advise it. When she arrived there were some items like the speakers. stereo. battery and keys that had somehow gone missing along the way. I have a clean and clear Iowa title.

She's been repainted in the original color. The paint is presentable but not "show" quality. The engine compartment is clean and well sorted and the motor looks and runs as if it has been rebuilt but I have no documentation to confirm this.   BJ40's get much better fuel economy than gasoline powered FJ40's I've seen several trucks from Costa Rica and that are well worn but I've been very please with this little gal. she's obviously been cared for and not abused. This is nice rust free driver quality Land Cruiser. Just turn the key and the fun begins! 

Note - vintage Land Cruisers from South America and Central America typically do not have power steering. A/C. dash pads. emission equipment. disc brakes. roll bars. bucket seats or heaters. This truck does have a dashpad and has the split bench seat in front with long jump seats in back. While many of these trucks were delivered as soft tops. this gal has a factory hard top that appears to have been on the truck since day one.

Details & Condition
I have pictured the body in detail at the link below and you will also find a video. She runs and drives excellent. Steering. clutch and 4-Wheel Drive transmission are all in excellent working order.  This BJ40's body. undercarriage and frame are in very good condition. No rust issues.  

  The floors are all solid. The interior is very nice and EVERYTHING works. as it should. There is an overhead console that contains the new AM/FM/CD. Turn signals. hazards. headlight high and low beams. wipers. taillights. backup lights. license plate lights. odometer. speedometer. fuel. oil. amp and temp gauges all functioning. The upholstery has been redone in gray vinyl at some point and is in very good shape. There are speakers installed in the overhead console. The headliner is original and in good shape! The glass is all good and the windows are tinted. This Land Cruiser also has a vintage cargo rack and ladder on the back.

  The truck has 3. 70 gears for improved highway performance and the H41 transmission with "Granny Low" for pure grunt 4x4 prowess. This BJ40's suspension consists of rugged solid axles and OEM leaf springs at both ends. At the back of the truck's frame you will find the factory rear step. flanked by the original bumpettes to assist your passengers who want to climb in back. Under it all you will find 5-spoke chrome wheels with locking hubs surrounded by Adventuro A/T Radials tires that have plenty of life left in them. Hanging on the swing out rear tire carrier is the matching spare tire.
