Please do not bid on the car if you do not have the funds or intentions of buying.  This car will sell globally and I will assist with shipping as appropriate.

Up for sale is my 1966 Mustang GT fastback that I have owned for 5 years.   This car completed my “trifecta” of owning the 3 earliest fastback body styles (1965-66. 1967-68 and 1969-70) at the same time.   The car was a “worn” driver when I bought it. and I have spent countless hours and money bringing it to its present condition.   This is not a car that was “prettied up” to sale for a quick profit.   It will be evident from the description that only the highest quality parts were used in the restoration.

The Car:  The car is an authentic A Code. true GT Fastback with a black pony interior. and Ivy Green Metallic paint.   The car has all the GT requirements as described below.   The vision behind the car build was to maintain a mostly stock appearing fastback with modern performance upgrades that would improve the overall driving experience.   I rebuilt/upgraded the drivetrain. suspension. and interior as needed; however. the car was not repainted.   I felt that even though not perfect. the paint was OK.

GT Requirements:

1.       The VIN needs to have either an A code or K code in the 5th position.  The car is an A code.

2.      There are special reinforcements for dual exhaust under the rear seat.   This is the hardest GT characteristic to fake and not tipically done.  See pictures.

3.       All GTs received ornamental trumpet exhaust tips exiting through a special rear valance with trim rings.  See pictures.

4.       The factory GT received a special handling package which included a faster steering box 16:1 ratio Tag: HCC-AX (Manual Steering). larger sway bar (13/16" diameter) . tiffer front coils and rear springs.  The car has appropriate steering box and larger diameter sway bar.

5.       The factory GT received front disc brakes which included a larger single master cylinder and a special proportional valve. The brake pedal also had "Disc Brakes" on it.  The car contains all three.

6.       The factory GT received fog lights with horizontal bars and they received at least one hole in the radiator support. They also received fog light wiring. circuit breaker and a fog light switch.  The car contains all.

7.       Factory GT cars received special stripes on the lower fender. doors and rear quarter panel. They also received M U S T A N G letters and GT badges. The rocker panel molding were deleted as well as the rear scoop ornamentation (coupe and convertible only. fastbacks always had rear scoop ornamentation deleted).  See pictures.

8.    Standard Mustang emblems were deleted from front fenders.  See pictures.

9.    Rear bumper guards were deleted from rear valance to make room for the exhaust trim and trumpets.  See pictures.

Engine:  The block is a vintage 289 block that was bored over 0. 030.   The block was retrofitted for hydraulic roller cam and roller lifters.   Camshaft used is a Ford B303 hydraulic roller cam. Howard Cams retrofit hydraulic roller lifters. Harland Sharp 1. 6 Ratio Roller Rockers. Melling high volume oil pump. Cloyes true roller timing chain. Moly Piston Rings. Crower ChroMoly 1 piece pushrods.   The engine was dynoed at 305 horsepower and 315 lb/ft of torque at the rear wheels.   This car has double the power to the rear wheels of the original A code 289 and chirps the tires easily.  It is priceless to outrun modern cars and other vintage cars with larger engines and when people ask what is in it-being able to say "just a little 289".  The engine has less than 200 miles.

Valve covers and air cleaner:  Die cast aluminum valve covers (tall to clear roller rockers) and oval air cleaner with Cobra powered by Ford designation.   K&N oval air cleaner.

Carburetor:  Holley 670 CFM Street Avenger carburetor.   Professionally jetted for the engine build.

Heads:  Edelbrock Aluminum Cylinder heads with 2. 02 intake valves.

Intake:  Edelbrock Aluminum Performer intake.   Edelbrock letters ground off to retain original intake look.

Transmission:  Keisler Perfect Fit 5 speed overdrive transmission with vintage looking shifter lever and knob for modern transmission.   You have to look closely to realize that this is not the original shifter and knob.   The transmission shifts smoothly and the car cruises at 75 mph at 2200 RPM's in fifth gear.  The car also has an aluminum drive shaft.

Rear End:  The 8” rear end was completely rebuilt and 3. 55 Richmond Gears were added.   New ring and pinion set and Powertrax no-slip locking differential was installed.

Exhaust:  Hedman Elite Heavy Duty Headers. 2. 5 aluminized exhaust with H Pipe.  Flowmaster 50 Delta Series mufflers used to keep interior resonance to a respectable level but you can still hear them when step on it.  GT exhaust trumpets.

Ignition:  Petronix Billet distributor with rev limiter setting and Ignitor III module. Petronix III Ignition coil and Petronix wires.

Suspension:  All new front/rear and steering components. high quality from Scott Drake and Grab A Trak.   New upper. lower control arms. springs. idler arm bracket. strut rods. strut rod bushings. 5 leaf rear springs. sway bar bushings and end links. all polyurethane bushings. new KYB gas shocks.

Lines:  All gas and brake lines replaced with new stainless steel lines.   Russell braided brake lines used for safety reasons.

Radiator:  Scott Drake Aluminum radiator.

AC:  Classic Auto Air A/C system.

Wheels and Tires:  14” BF Goodrich Silvertown dual red line radials (P205/70) from Coker tires and 14” 1966 Styled Steel Wheels.

Interior:  New-carpet. dash. foldown rear set trim and carpet.  Scott Drake 8000 RPM Rally Pac (not cheap). steering wheel. 5 gauge cluster. rear view mirror. new seat tracks. all interior knobs (fog lights. lights. a/c. radio).   Seats. door panels. and headliner in excellent shape so they were left alone.

Radio:  Custom Radio Autosound USA 66 with ipod connection designed to look vintage. new center speaker. new kick panels with speakers.

Body:  The car is straight with no rust.   There is some small bubbling in the bottom driver door that has not changed even since I acquired the car.  Both front and rear bumpers are new.

Underside:  The car has a solid underside with minor coating.

Paint:  The paint on the car is OK.  I would give it a 7 out of 10.  There are some touch ups and some small dings from normal use.  You can still see the original Ivy Green Metallic paint in the bottom of the rear seat of the picture that I took for the dual exhaust reinforcements.

Glass:  All Ford Autolite glass.

Other:  I have a large binder with all the receipts supporting the above purchases.  There are many more new components that were not described (hoses. engine wiring harness. solenoids. battery cables. etc. ) above.  All gauges work. all interior and exterior lights work. even the horn works.

The car is sold as is with no warranties written and implied.  The car will not be released until funds clear.  The car is located in Houston Texas. Good luck bidding.

On Nov-20-14 at 07:47:10 PST. seller added the following information:

I received the question from a potential buyer whether the car was road worthy to be driven from Houston to Dallas Texas. which is a 4 hour drive.  I have a high level of confidence that the car can be driven cross country. much less a 4 hour drive.  All key components are new and have been sorted out on the car.  I took the car this week to the shop where it is getting a complete check.  In particular. the ac will be recharged since it was not blowing as cold as it should and the rear brakes are getting completely redone.  This will cost me $ 900. but as I said in my write-up. this car was not "prettied up" to sale.  I want to ensure that the car is mechanically sound and that there are no surprises.  As supported by my perfect ebay rating. I do what I say and I describe my products honestly.
