1935 Aston Martin 1 1/2 Litre Long Chassis Tourer. Chassis number: E5/574/LRegistration number: EYT978Engine number: E5/574/LAn outstanding example of a late model Mk. II. four-seater. This is one of only forty five produced between 1934 and 1935. The Mk. II was the final generation of the 1½ litre series which had already built a reputation for itself as one of the best handling and braking sports cars of the period. Indeed this model saw further improvements to the chassis. suspension and engine (now uprated to 73bhp). which made it one of the fastest point to point cars of the time. The car is finished in a striking red colour scheme which suits the car & its racing aspirations well; the paint being in excellent condition. The interior is of well patinated original black leather in good useable condition. The best part about the car is its mechanical condition. The car has had a stem to stern rebuild a few thousand miles ago making for a wonderful driving machine with excellent power from the dry sump engine & a crisp precise gear box; the gear box being arranged in the reverse from a convention patten. Throttle is the centre with brake pedal to the right. The car accelerates easily to 70MPH holding station & sometimes passing bemused modern car drivers. The real pleasure of the car is the lightness of its chassis & body making it extremely wieldy & finger tip light on the steering. The gear box has a very short throw making for quick satisfying changes. The car comes equipped with a hood & side screens; items unlikely to see much use unless the rain reaches biblical levels. Erecting the hood is an easy affair for one person. A tonneau cover snaps over the cockpit providing some security when leaving the car unattended. The car has always been maintained with a "No expenses spared" attitude. To that end £7000 has recently been spent to include new tyres; a suspension overhaul including re-tempered leaf springs and new bronze bushes; new brake linings; reconditioned magneto; reconditioned rev. counter; new exhaust downpipes and a number of cosmetic items including new paint to the rear mudguards. The car is in stock in our showrooms now & ready for viewing & driving. A gallery of large high resolution pictures may be viewed by clicking the "More Pictures" button.
