Unfortunately. we have four of five projects that are in line in front of it. and we need the space for the winter. so this one must go. When we went to look at this car. the previous owner. who had it since 1980. opened his garage and we had to ask "where is the car?" It was so buried underneath decades of stuff that the owner had accumulated. After two days of digging. the car was free. and it was worth the wait! This car sat undisturbed in a dry garage with a cement floor for 35 years. It had about an inch of dirt on it everywhere (as you can see in the pictures of the unveiling). but underneath was a great example of a TR250.

Unfortunately. the car does have the typical 250 rust. it will need rockers. at least a driver's floor (passenger floor actually looks pretty good) and patches on the front fenders. There is some bondo on the tops of the rear fenders behind the cockpit where it looks like there may have been some pin holing. There is also a bit of rust on the typical "t-shirt" area of the frame. Some of you will read this description and say "wow that is a long list. " I can tell you that 90% of TR250 restoration projects from private owners have some or all of these issues (and some have others as well). The difference is that we are disclosing them to you. If you are buying a project car. you are better off buying one from someone who knows enough about them to tell you straight what it needs.

What you are getting with this car is a fabulously canvas. This car needs a total restoration but you are in luck. Because the previous owner took care to store this car so well. and because he never attempted his own restoration. you can count on the fact that this car has great bones. and is an ideal starting point for a restoration. When you get a truly original project like this. you don't have to waste time and energy un-doing someone else's mistakes. The car still maintains its original books. It is very. very complete and will make a fabulous car for someone. We really wish we had the time to do it ourselves. but unfortunately this one must pass on to the next owner.
