Even though 1960 was the high point in the number of registered Kabinenrollers in Germany. at 15. 78 cars. the writing was on the wall. Production in the early sixties was down to less than 100 per month. with complete cars being built for a couple of months. and much of the time was spent on producing parts for the worldwide servicing of existing vehicles. The Karo was only produced for four more years because a variety of other products were keeping the plant busy. These included the Mokuli light delivery. the heavier Lastenroller. a go-Kkart. the Kultimax agricultural vehicle. a moped. washing machines. and various drink vending machines. all of which took the place of the Kabinenroller on the assembly lines.  

The Messerschmitt still had an eager market in France. where new cars were still selling well in 1964. This car is one such example. being a French-specification. late-model bubble top. It has the market-specific. yellow-bulb headlamps with different rims. the fender lamps. different mirrors. and the typical French high-mounted bumper bars. as well as auxiliary direction indicators at the rear.
