AMC : Javelin base model

1970 Javelin  original bittersweet color  with black inetrior. This is a good running driving car. it is registered and inspected in New York State. everything works and it is driven daily.  I have owned it for 15 years and hate to sell. but have other AMC projects to finish. Car is not mint. It is a driver needing restoration. Base model non-SST .   232 six cylinder. automatic. power steering with quick-ratio 3 turn steering box.

milage shows 46064 . the od was changed and is should be 10. 00 less. I think the actual milage is around 135. 00

 The horn . emp and fuel gauge all work fine. Battery is good. changing system works fine.   The vacuum wipers and manual pump washer work great.  I have been driving the Javelin for 14 years and have done lots of work to it over the years. I took out the 3. 08 model 15 rear axle and installed a V8 model 20 with a 2. 87 twin grip. added factory V8 10inch drum brakes all around. added the front sway bar. NOS wiper motor . arb. . olt reg. . eater control valve. added NOS Modine radiator. all new hoses with factory syle hose clamps. rebuilt water pump +fresh coolant last fall. nbsp;HD cooling metal fan shroud.  .  locking gas cap. has after market stereo. all glass is good. (clear not tinted) pass window is coming unglued and needs a little help to roll up. The exhaust manifold needs gasket under intake. pipe and muffler are good.

The Javelin is a great driver and very good on gas. It gets close to 25 mpg with the hwy gears.  I upgraded the 9 inch drum to 10 inch V8 drum and it now stops like it should.   . The 232 motor runs great with a crane cam and HEI dist.

Car has been made to look like a Mark Donohue and has alot of goodies added like. Ram-air hood . front spoiler . roof spoiler . trunk lid spoiler. and rear window louvers (louvers are from a Hornet hatchback). V8 springs front and rear.

body has some rust to rear 1/4 panels. trunk/tail panel seam (see pictures) . driver door lower corner has a rust spot (driverside door is not original to the car). front frame has a patch under the steering box (see pictures). front passenger floor pan needs repairs. AMX hood had hood pins at one time and body work is lifting. rear spoiler is from a later 1971-74 AMX.

front fenders and gussets look great. radiator support is straight. grille is nice with a few hairline cracks on front behind the bumper.

interior is black with the original bucket seats. driver seat is torn on edge. headliner vynil is gone  original backboard is still in the car.

original 232 six cylinder 1bbl engine. rebuilt with forged pistons and crane cam and new parts. Engine was built+balaced by old AMC engine builder in Ct who built AMC trans-am motors. Engine runs strong and smooth. I may still have the receipt. there is a folder full of receipts in glove box. engine has upgraded HEI distributor and runs/starts excellent. no wires were cut to install the HEI.

original air cooled transmission  works/shifts great in all gears. the rear axle is a model 20 from a V8 car. 2. 87 twin grip/posi

original driveshaft was shortened and balanced with new u-joints. to install the V8 posi rear. front brakes are V8 drum and  factory V8 sway bar added. the front springs are HD V8 springs. rear springs are rebuilt V8 springs. they have been rebushed and banded with a leaf added to each. The car is ready for your V8 engine. just add a V8 k frame.

. The wheels are factory 14inch 1970. AMC aluiminum slots. tires are 225 75 14  and are a little dry rotted. lower control arm bushing and ball joint were recently replaced and front end could use an alignment. whole front end was rebuilt a few years ago. monroe gas charged shocks front and rear. new brake cables have been installed and parking brake works fine.

car is sold as is where is. Saint Jonsville NY 13452.    car must be picked up within 21 days unless other arrangements have been made.
