Mercury : Comet Comet

 Pull in to any cruise-in and watch people flock to the comet not only because its got the coolest patina ever but the exhaust note makes people wonder if you're running a healthy small block.   Just pop the hood and walk away. bring a fly swatter back because you won't be able to get near the car when you return.   The Comet attracts them like the proverbial flies on doo-doo. After looking at the pics I'm pretty sure you can see what I mean. what started out as a rust free. original paint. life long. Nevada desert car has turned into a badass one of a kind hot rod. I don't know what my fascination is with anything that's worn or distressed. probably started at an early age going to junkyards but I absolutely love these cars and trucks with worn out paint. This one has the most incredible patina. everyone loves it young and old. men. nd especially women. sure there's a hater every once in awhile but its usually because their jealous that no one is paying attention to their $20k paint job while everyone is drooling over this one. You won't find one this clean or this cool. A modern 4. 6 Lincoln Mod motor has been transplanted between the now non existent shock towers. The intake has been converted to accept a Holley 4 bbl for easy tuning. an MSD spark controller works the distributerless ignition. A Tremec TR3650 5 speed makes it fun to bang the gears. To fit this extra wide mill in the engine bay. the shock towers had to go so a Mustang II style front suspension was installed which has rack&pinion steering. and power disc brakes. The rear end is a 9" Ford and a Panhard bar has been added to aid in keeping the rear centered in the chassis. Like I had mentioned the body is over the top clean. even most of the chrome and trim is nice. the upholstry will need a lil work mostly the seat covers and carpet. however you can enjoy it with the mexican blanket like I've been.
