1989 Rolls Royce Silver Spur II

Low reserve price

Cherished Plate: A8 AVC available subject to separate negotiation

Very low mileage 49504 borne out with MOT's

This vehicle was owned and used by Rolls-Royce between 1989 & 1997 (confirmed by a copy of the V5) apparently as a test and design vehicle - primarily for development and testing of air conditioning systems.

Owners Handbook. Complete Rolls-Royce build history file supplied by Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts' Club.

The Silver Spirit & Silver Spur were the highly luxurious British saloon motor car of the day manufactured by Rolls-Royce Motors. in Crewe. England. launched as the first model in the SZ series. The Silver Spur (this model) is a long-wheelbase version of the Silver Spirit. produced at the same time. The Spirit / Spur were the first cars to feature the retractable Spirit of Ecstasy. The spring-loaded Mascot sank into the radiator shell if dislodged from its position.

The Silver Spirit. introduced by Rolls-Royce in 1980. was the first of a new generation of models for the company. It formed the basis for the Flying Spur. Silver Dawn. Touring Limousine. Park Ward and apart from branding differences and a different radiator housing also Bentley for the Mulsanne/Eight series.

The Spirit/Spur was not entirely new – it continued to use the basic design of the Silver Shadow as well as that motor car's 6. 75 L(6750 cc/411in³) V8 engine and GM sourced THM 400 3-speed automatic transmission. The Spur / Spirit continued the emphasis toward a high degree of ride quality by utilising the self-levelling suspension from the previous model Silver Shadow. though in this application using a Girlinautomatic hydraulic ride height control system and gas-charged shock absorbers.

This car has a very low mileage. borne out by the MOT's and it must be said it's not in showroom condition. but nice for the year and drives really well. When the engine is up to normal operating temperatures the oil pressure is between mid - high and temperature between mid - cold. so engine is in very good order. with automatic transmission to match. The car has been used for the occasional wedding and for pleasure purposes. The car is Royal Blue with a dark blue everflex roof.  The paintwork on the top of the N/S front wing may require some attention as it is slightly crazed. but it has been like this since I purchased the car and I have never received any adverse comment. There are some minor chips and blemishes as you would expect with a car of this age. The magnolia leather interior of the car is in  fair /good condition but could benefit from some cleaning and possibly re-colouring.  The car is in good condition for its age and is very presentable. I believe that with very little effort and some TLC it could look quite stunning.

I purchased the car the car on 05/07/2003 from a dealer who sold it on behalf of the private owner and registered it in my wife's name. The car was originally registered to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd. Rymslane. Crew between 1989 - 1997 and then had one private owner between 1997 and 2003 (registration number XHJ 1). as shown on a copy of the V5. I have the UK V5. including MOT until May 2015.

The car is currently registered with the private / cherished plate - A8 AVC  (valued £500 - £1000) this may be available by separate negotiation or the car can be sold subject to an age related plate being obtained. The car shows a recorded 49504 miles. nbsp;borne out by all the MOT's. It also comes with a genuine Rolls Royce owners handbook and the car specific build history / literature supplied by the RREC.

This car has been very reliable and a pleasure to own. It could be used for weddings and possibly special occasions or just for pleasure or a mixture of both.

Viewing is advised before purchase. Vehicle will only be released on receipt of cleared payment.
