1971 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda Convertible - STUNNING! See VIDEO

1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda Convertible.

This car was built at the Plymouth plant in Hamtramck. Michigan on November 2. 1970. Originally equipped as a 318 Barracuda Convertible. (Only 1. 14 Barracuda Convertibles were made in '71. )

The car was delivered new in California where it lived until the 1980's when it moved to Arizona. Later in the '80's it moved to Maine where it was owned by a woman who kept it stored in a private museum. The car was never exposed to rain and always garaged throughout its very limited life as a road car.

In 2008. this car was purchased by a man in Portland. nbsp;Oregon who set out to accurately re-create an authentic Hemi 'Cuda. (Only 11 Hemi 'Cuda Convertibles were made in 1971. ) Complete repaint in Vitamin C Orange. Paint is extremely high quality (better than factory-new!) No blemishes. Excellent finish in showroom condition. Absolutely NO RUST anywhere.

Important to note: Only original '71 'Cuda parts were used to build this car. NO modern repro or aftermarket parts were used. As an example. real '71 'Cuda fenders were fitted ($3000 each) as well as a real '71 Shaker hood and intake/scoop. Front and rear bumpers are real 'Cuda (urethane-coated steel. ) All of the badges and emblems are original 'Cuda. NO reproductions. It's truly as close to an original Hemi 'Cuda as you can get.

Engine is a 1967 426 Hemi. Fully and correctly rebuilt. ('67 blocks were not stamped/numbered. ) Mopar Performance heads. 1-7/8" PTI exhaust headers. Dual-lobe cam. 11:1 compression. Designed to run on 110 octane fuel. Engine has been slightly de-tuned for use with lower octane (90-92 range pump "Premium". ) Can be easily adjusted for jet fuel. if desired. Has a great sound and LOTS of power. (See video link. below. ) FAST AND LOUD when wanted! Automatic transmission with original "Slap Stik" shifter. Factory Air Conditioning (should be re-charged. ) Factory AM/FM radio.

New interior and top in 2008 at the time of the build. About 2. 00 miles since the build. Now 57. 00 miles on the odometer which are believed to be correct.

Next to spending $3. 5 million at the recent Mecum auction in Seattle on one of the 11 Hemi 'Cudas made in 1971. this is the closest thing. And you won't have to rob a bank or sell your kids to buy it.

The only reason for selling is due to the recent passing of the owner. the family is offering it for sale to settle the estate. no trades. please.

A realistic reserve has been placed on this car in keeping with its quality. low mileage and rarity. It could not be re-created today for the reserve price (if you were able to find a Barracuda convertible and all of the original parts. to start!) Please bid accordingly. You will not be disappointed.

WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS. WORLDWIDE.

Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK!

On Oct-18-14 at 20:42:59 PDT. seller added the following information:

 THANK YOU!
For all of the calls and e-mail with interest in this wonderful car.
A CORRECTION:
The Air Conditioning unit was removed
from the car at the time the Hemi was installed.
(I don't believe any of the 11 actual Hemi 'Cuda Convertibles
had A/C either as the 426 takes up so much room under the hood. )
Sorry for the confusion.
Also. some have emailed believing that some parts may be reproductions.
The information we have regarding the authentic parts used
in this car came from the man who installed the Hemi engine.
We will leave it to the experts to decide.
Thank you again for all of your interest and bids!
