EXTERIOR
The exterior of this RS Mexico is stunning in every respect. Finished in optional Signal Yellow it has a deep. gloss shine which is amazing and an absolute pleasure to polish. The distinctive squared-up nose styling and front air dam has no stone chips and informs knowledgeable onlookers to the scarcity of this model only built between January 1976 and July 1978. All the trim is perfect. window rubbers are black and all decals are correct and present. The original glass is window plate etched and the supplying dealer rear window sticker is attached. The optional vinyl roof costing £46. 75 in 1978 is clean but very slight lift to a few areas can just be seen. The engine bay is spotless and Cadulac treatment was applied when new along with the underbody having waxoyl. Utterly gorgeous and a real show stopper.

INTERIOR
The interior of this RS Mexico offers simple sporting pleasure. The twin high back reclining Scheel front seats in Black fabric with head restraints and are perfectly clean and offer incredible support. The carpets. washable black headlining and door cards are all unmarked. The bench style rear seat material has been replaced. All the gauges and warning lights function correctly with the ‘RS' logo within the five white needle instrument cluster reminding the driver how special this Ford is A facia mounted glove pocket and working period gauges add to the occasion. The dash has no cracks but the rear parcel shelf is a little sun damaged. The boot area is clean with factory stickers still attached to the wheel arches and rear cross member and tools are still contained in the hessian bag. Naughtily nostalgic.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Visually identical from the same era and part of the ‘Pinto' family. a 2. 1cc OHC with 4-branch exhaust manifold performs faultlessly and is a recognised period improvement to the 1593cc unit. Completely rebuilt to a high standard from RJD Propower this engine produces 119bhp allowing comfortable modern day use. A Weber 38 DGMS carburettor with manual choke is fitted and a full specification sheet is provided. A top speed of 108mph and 0-60mph in 8. 5 seconds can be expected. Again. for real enjoyable use. a Type-9 5-speed Ford gearbox is fitted.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
This vehicle it fitted with JBW 7JX13 sapphire silver 4-spoke RS alloy wheels in immaculate condition shod in new 175/50 R13 Yokohama A539 tyres. The original 5. 5JX13 steel wheels with metal RS centre caps as supplied when new are also included with tyres. Vacuum servo assisted front disc brakes and rear drum brakes offer adequate stopping power but require familiarisation compared to modern standards.

HISTORY FILE
With only around 2. 00 Mk2 Ford Mexico's made. (source Ford RS Owners Club). this car represents a rare breed! Positioned awkwardly in price and specification between a 1600 Sport and an RS2000 when new the Mexico had a very short production run and therefore is now a highly sought after model amongst collectors. Supplied new to the first of just seven former keepers by Ford Rallye Sport Dealer. E. Hodgsons. in May 1978 this vehicle has been enthusiast owned throughout. The new vehicle invoice reveals a total price paid of £3. 25. 32 including £20. 21 for Signal Yellow and £46. 75 for a vinyl roof! An A4 folder containing numerous invoices and MOT certificates help demonstrate the care devoted to this example. A separate file relating to restoration work in 2002 totals £10. 23. 25 and is accompanied with photographs. This actual vehicle is also comprehensively featured in Classic Ford magazines Mk2 Escort Mexico Buyers Guide in December 1999 revealing the features of a genuine Mexico and helping to reassure the next buyer of this rare Fords authenticity.

MOT Oct 2015. HPI Clear. Approved Used Car Check.
