Mercedes-Benz : 300-Series 6.3

This is the car you want if you have been searching for one of these rockets. This is a two owner car. Bought in Germany by a New Mexico doctor back in 1982 and shipped to New Mexico where it has been ever since under cover in a garage. He was under contract with the Army and the original USA license plate is still in the trunk. The owner took great care to keep all documents so I have file folders of service records. import documentation. Mercedes mileage awards (250000KM). etc. You even get his bolo tie that was custom made in silver with opal headlights. shows you he loved his car. He is now 80 and no longer can handle getting in and out of the low seats.
Now. the car. Runs strong and pulls like a freight train. No smoke compression seems great. Stops and shifts fine. All indicators. gauges. and windows work. Newer tires with lots of tread and life left. All seats are leather. Drivers seat has some wear on the bolster in the form of a deep cracks. Other seats are pretty near minty. You get like new genuine sheepskin seat covers which I removed for the pictures. The wood is excellent all around with only a minor bit of crazing to the clearcoat on the windshield wood. The dash has one hairline crack. not on top but below the radio otherwise the black dash top is perfect. Aftermarket radio. Carpeting has been protected by mats and looks great. One small hole in the headliner otherwise perfect. All glass is good with the exception of two stone strikes on the windshield which I couldnt capture on camera. They are not in the drivers field of vision. Underhood looks good with the only suspect item being some baling wire holding a wiper fluid reservoir in place. Engine makes no valve noise and idles nice. Runs cool - I had it idling for 40 minutes while I took the pictures. Not sure of exact mileage. Odo says 75K but euro paperwork says 250K - do the math and you might be close to actual.  
This car was a pride and joy for the previous owner. He belonged to the Benz mileage program and the car comes with the certificates. He had the car painted in Germany when he bought it because the whole car was brown and he wanted a white car. The paintjob still shines and there is no evidence of the original color except for the roof. Every exposed surface was professionally painted. OUtside there is no visible rust or bubbles to be seen anywhere - even on top of the headlights and fender wells. Rockers are perfect. Underside. the only rust I could find was a spot forward of the rear wheel passenger side rail that looks rusty ragged. Study pictures of underside. It's odd because the rest of the underside is pretty spotless. The trunk is very solid even in the left and right wells of the trunk which are usually the first place to rot. One small ding on front bumper. Drivers rear quarter has a silver dollar sized ding that is hard to picture - very shallow but I have to mention it.
This is a new mexico car and our dry environment is tough on rubber goods so I'd imagine some bushings and hoses should be attended to. These are high maintenance cars. The air suspension functions well but the front end. particularly the passenger front wheel will droop overnight. It pumps right up in the morning and holds all day and while driving the leveling works great. This indicates a small leak somewhere. probably that right front but it is not an emergency yet but should eventually be tended to. There are records of the airbags being replaced and other suspension maintenance along with all other services so you'll have a good time going through the hundreds of papers.
Someone needs to continue babying this car and it will provide years of joy. See my photobucket page for much more pictures.
Sold as-is where-is and it should be known that this is an old car and while it may be running fantastic now it could leave you stranded in 6 months. a year. who knows. We old car lovers know the risks and it's part of the hobby. Email with plenty of questions or additional picture requests.
