ED Tail Lights  This story started life in December of 1967 in Stockton. a when this truck was sold new as a 1968 Chevrolet Long bed C10 CST equipped with 327 V8 . powerglide transmission . actory A/C . power steering and brakes. and factory bucket seats with console.  Now the story jumps 36 years forward to when Doug Times found this truck in Concord. a with its original black license plates still currently registered. He strikes a deal with owner for the truck along with a short bed rolling chassis. ed floor and sides. After which he purchases a trailer and hitches it to this truck and drives 2313 miles. sing 244 gallons of gas. ack to Ohio so the transformation can begin.  There are 600 plus very detailed step-by-step photos of the build available along with 100 plus current photos taken this month. There is a detailed video of the truck that was shot this month. esides the truck being readily available for personal inspection by appointment.  And finally for the best part of this story to explain in detail what was done and how it was done.



 

Body

> marker lights removed from bedsides and fenders

>gas filler removed from cab

>antenna removed

>CST door badges removed

>rear wheel wells tubbed 1 ⅝ inches each side

All body modifications were completed and photo documented. Then all sheet metal was chemically stripped by American Metal Cleaners in Cincinnati. h. Then all body panels were E-coated by Mayflower Vehicle Systems in Norwalk. h (same process as $200k 2004-2006 Ford GT). Once the E-coating was oven cured all seams were seam sealed by Mayflower and the re-baked in the oven again. Then the body was painted fully disassembled with cab on a rotisserie.


 

Chassis

 Started with 1970 Chevy shortbed chassis that was towed home from California.

 >front lower control arms narrowed ¾ of an inch

 >front upper control arms narrowed 1 ½ inches

 >upper and lower ball joint angles were corrected

 >rear trailing arm mounts were switched side to side and flipped upside down to correct pinion angle

 >Air Ride Technologies air bags installed on all 4 corners

 >C notch kit from Classic Performance Products installed in rear frame

 >all brake and fuel lines plumbed in stainless tubing. flex lines are braided stainless

 >front has 5 lug disc brakes from Right Stuff Detailing. long with McGauffeys 2 inch drop spindles

 >Front end utilizes factory sway bar

 >rear end in 1968 GM factory 12 bolt with Eaton Gear 4. 10to1 posi unit

 >rear has custom fabricated panhard bar

 >wheels are Wheel Vintique GM Rallys Front 15x7 Rear 16x10

Once all the frame and suspension modifications were completed 112 items were delivered to Aesthetic Finishers Inc in Piqua. h to be powder coated “black velvet”. These 112 items included things such as seat frames. ore support. rive shaft. xle housing. pindles. rums and more.



 

Engine

 >GM 350 4 bolt main block stroked to 383

 >Eagle cast crank and forged rods

 >TRW forged lightweight pistons 10. 75 to 1 compression

 >Comp Cams roller hydraulic cam

 >Comp Cams chrome moly full roller rockers and pushrods

 >Custom fabricated aluminum tunnel ram fuel injected intake

 >custom electronic fuel injection using GM ECM

 >custom fabricated aluminum valve covers

 >Billet Specialties “Tru Trac” billet serpentine accessory drive

 >aluminum reverse rotation water pump

 >”Sweet” power steering pump

 >custom fabricated equal length long-tube step-tube headers

 >B&M oil super cooler

Once all machine work was completed on the engine block it was fully polished inside and out prior to being painted to match truck.


 

Transmission

  >GM TH700R-4 overdrive unit

  >B&M trans super cooler plumbed with stainless lines

  >unit built by Thoma Garage in Miamisburg. h



 

Interior

 >original factory bucket seats and console nicely recovered in cloth

 >fuel tank removed and replaced by custom fabricated stainless tank under the bed

 >Dynamat Extreme Insulation applied to every surface even the inside of the doors

 >complete custom Sony sound system with 2 amps. 600 watts. speakers. nd auxiliary input

 >Electric Life power window regulators with custom window switches utilizing window crank handles for appearance

 >air ride control panel along with remote controls for air ride

 >GM tilt column with overdrive indicator

 >original style factory gauges including tachometer
