Vintage 1972 Honda 600 Coupe--fully operational.    TRULY A RARE COLLECTOR'S FIND!!!!According to one source. a total of 40. 86 sedans and coupes were sold in the US for the 1970 thru 1972 model years. with the majority being sedans. Totals from the HONDA FACT BOOK state that there were 35000 Honda AN600 Sedans and 15500 AZ600 Coupes sold in the USA. Regardless of the exact number sold. very few have survived. Although the actual number of survivors is unknown. best estimates are fewer than 1000. probably more like 300 or so are in operating condition today. This is your opportunity to own a fully operational Honda 600 Coupe with all original owners/maintenance manual. original sticker. original license plate. accessories. and even two mini-models of the car! The Honda 600 Coupe has all original equipment. runs well. and has a post-factory installed Craig AM/FM stereo. It was purchased on May 12. 1972 in Detroit. MIEngineThe coupe is powered by a four-stroke. air-cooled engine that puts out 36 horsepower at 6. 00 rpm. It delivers 31. 8 foot-pounds of torque at 4. 00 rpm. There are two valves per cylinder. with a single overhead cam. The bore and stroke are 2. 91 and 2. 74 inches. making the displacement 36. 4 cubic inches. The compression ratio is 8. 5:1. It has a four-speed manual transmission. The carburetor is a Keihin variable venturi. PerformanceWith a curb weight of 1. 12 pounds and stock Dunlop 145 SR10 radial tires. its 0-to-60 time is 23. 6 seconds and it requires 137. 7 feet to brake from 60 to 0. according to Road & Track's September 1972 issue. The factory claims a top speed of 78 mph. but because of its lack of noise insulation the engine sound is loud at this speed. The steering is rack and pinion. has a 32. 2-foot turning diameter and requires 3. 1 turns lock-to-lock. Fuel consumption is 39. 8 mpg. ConstructionThis front-wheel-drive. three-door hatchback has a compact drive unit combining the engine. transmission and differential unit in one piece with a common crankcase. The front suspension employs a modified MacPherson strut on the top and two parallel arms on the bottom. The rear suspension has solid beam. semi-elliptical springs and tube shocks. It has a solid unibody construction. a 6. 9-gallon fuel tank. a wheelbase of 78. 7 inches and is 122. 8 inches long. The front brakes are power servo-assist discs and the rear brakes are drums. InteriorThe instrumentation panel is sparse but it does have a tachometer. a speedometer and a fuel gauge. The manual shift handle comes out from under the dash. to the right of the steering wheel. and uses the standard "H" pattern for shifting. although reverse is a twist to the left and down. The interior is spacious for a coupe and will seat four. the rear seats folding down to make more luggage space. There is an interior light on the roof as well as a swivel spotlight.
