1947 Jaguar Mark IV 3. 5 Liter Saloon - Lovely

1947 Jaguar Mark IV 3. 5 Liter Saloon

Listed on behalf of the estate of the owner.

Chassis #612581. Body #B9509. Engine #S4464.

This Jaguar was sold new by Henly's in London on April 26. 1948 to Mr. A. Hammond. Originally Lavender Grey with Suede Green leather interior. the car eventually found its way to the United States sometime in the 1970's. At that time it was repainted in red. It was enjoyed by two collectors in Oregon until passing to the current owner in 1995. It was driven to his private showroom and shop in 1997 where it was parked awaiting full restoration. Other projects took precedence (including his restoration of an award-winning 1955 XK140 FHC). and the '47 patiently waited in the heated building. Unfortunately. the unexpected passing of the owner in April. 2014 has now prompted it to be offered for sale.

This is a complete. solid. numbers-matching car. While it was last run 17 years ago. there is every indication that it would easily run today. The engine turns. This has the large. 3. 5 liter engine rated at 90 mph+. All mechanical components appear present and in good condition. Brakes work well. Wire wheel are excellent. It would most likely need a new electric wiring harness. which is readily available from several sources. 51. 00 miles showing on the odometer appear to be correct. given the known history of the car.

While the car was painted some years ago. the interior appears largely original and has faded and softened over time. The seats could be refreshed and treated with leather conditioner. and would still be serviceable for a driver/preservation restoration. Headliner shows wear but is serviceable for a preservation vehicle. Original chrome and trim is bright and very good.

Remarkably. the tool kit in the lid of the boot (trunk) is complete with all parts present. Before his death. the owner located all previously missing parts. There is an additional box of spare parts in the car which include (among other items) a Jaguar "leaper" mascot for the radiator cap. rebuilt trafficator turn signal. the second driving light and other spare parts.

This is a wonderful car that can be easily refreshed and enjoyed as-is. or benefit from a full concours show restoration. Whatever your choice. you will not be searching for unobtainable parts or cursing a rusty hulk. This is a beautifully rare Jaguar. and the last model recognized as a Full Classic™ by the Classic Car Club of America. It is eligible for participation in all CCCA events. shows and tours.

A realistic reserve has been placed on this car (which we expect to be easily exceeded) considering its rarity and condition. Please bid accordingly.

WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS. WORLDWIDE.

Please remember that this car is presently not running and will need to be transported. It has a clear Oregon title.

Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK!
