Seller's notes: "This vehicle has gone through a no expense spared rotisserie mechanical and cosmetic restoration. Cosmetically, it is perfect or as close as you will find. It has been restored in much the same way as they were assembled at the factory. Mechanically, it starts, runs and drives extremely well as you would expect from a professionally restored car. The engine is smooth and starts right up. The gauges appear to work as do the headlights and other bulbs. The radio is intermittent. It has a mild cam as you can hear in the video. Description

You are looking at a no expense spared 1970 Plymouth GTX Coupe. equipped with the 425 Horsepower 426 Hemi engine. It has been painstakingly restored by a local owner and Mopar expert who has decided to downsize. Please read the unique story below. and the following is a video collection of the automobile:

This is a true 426 Hemi GTX based on the VIN number and fender tag. as well as the owner history. This is not a re-bodied. pieced together car. it is the real deal. Please scroll down and enjoy the 350+ photos. If you cannot view all the photos. please click here.

The story on this car is an interesting one. This car was ordered for racing and did not see many miles at all on the street. The current owner owned the car early in it's life and was able to buy it back and undergo a full. painstaking no expense spared cosmetic and mechanical restoration. It is one of 29 produced. has the 727 Torqueflite transmission. Super Track Pack (heavy duty Dana 4. 10 rear end and transmission cooler. The car was ordered with a black vinyl top. black bucket seat interior with silver piping. black reflective side stripes. Air Grabber hood with the black hood stripe. am/fm radio. and the floor mounted console shifter.

The car was built in January of 1970 and purchased by the first owner. He blew up the engine 4 times. The first two times. the dealership rebuilt the engine. The third time. they replaced the block with a warranty replacement. The last time. the dealer gave the owner his money back and took possession of the car. They rebuilt the motor and traded it to another dealership. The second owner bought it from the Plymouth dealership and raced it at Union Grove Dragstrip. In 1974. it had 20. 00 original miles. The current owner purchased the car and did not have the funds to restore it.   He sold the car to a fifth owner who also did not restore the car. and the current owner bought it back years later in 2004.

The car went through a 4 year no expense spared rotisserie restoration. Given the ultra low miles and years of storage. the car retains all of it's original sheet metal. Note that the black vinyl top is the ORIGINAL 1970 top. The bottom of the car was done in the original Mopar gray dip primer and when the car was painted. they let the green drift under the car as they did at the factory. The interior seat covers are new due to age. as the headliner and carpeting. and woodgrain dash panels. The rest of the car retains the original parts. The three speed wiper motor and air cleaner were left original to show the outstanding original condition of the components. The fender tag is there as well as all the spots the car has the VIN stamped. The transmission is the numbers matching original as is the rear end. It was factory ordered with 14" wheels.

Everything works like it should including the air grabber hood. Note the owner is including the original numbers matching 1970 Hemi carbs (worth a small fortune). original dual point Hemi distributor and coil. These were replaced for drive ability with Edelbrock Thunder Series carbs and electronic ignition. The original radiator was rebuilt and repainted. The engine and transmission were completely rebuilt by Jim Kilpatrick who is well known in this arena. It is stock aside from the cam. The only other change was to 3. 54 gears when the rear end was rebuilt but the 4. 10 gears are included.

Also note that the exterior panels. floor pans and color applied when restored are original. We could not detect any accidents. Please see the photos to have a better gauge of vehicle condition. It does look as good in person as it does in the photos. It cruises at 70 MPH on the freeway effortlessly.

The car is an outstanding example that is one of only 29 produced with a Hemi Automatic. How many were Sublime Green? Probably just a few. Galen Govier has also verified the car. and it looks. runs and drives as new and was a pleasure to drive for the auction videos. We were impressed with the outstanding workmanship and attention to every extreme detail when this vehicle was painstakingly restored. These Mopars are truly an American icon.
