Here's another desirable. great-running & driving Mercedes diesel we've just acquired for our Ebay customers.   This nice 300SD sold new at W. I Simonson Mercedes on Wilshire Blvd. in Santa Monica back. CA in May. 1985 but has spent the majority of its life in the great Pacific Northwest.   A family member of the original owner kept the car for most of the past 25 years after moving to Seattle. Drive like New. I took this car for a test drive from Orlando to Miami. FL about 6-700 miles round trip. I never drove anything like this before. I got lost twice on my way to pick-up a friend who was going with me.

Original Paint. a beautiful blue. no mechanical problems. no dents. dings. a smoke-free environment. its not a 2014 car its just a 29 years old car that holds itself like new. Air Bag. ABS. Cruise Control and everything works perfectly. the head rest adjust electronically. etc.  

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Ever driven one of these Mercedes with the powerful 3. 0 liter turbocharged diesel bullet proof engine?  Where else will you find this kind of luxury. vintage style. safety. mechanical reliability and terrific (25+MPG) fuel economy wrapped up in one great ride?  Smooth is the word for sure.   Smooth handling in the curves or on the highway.   I' ve always considered the W-126 chassis cars constructed through the late 80's as some of the last hand-built. truly high-quality Mercedes and have heard many others say the same thing!  Take a look at the photos and I'm sure you'll agree with me what a nice car this is.   What you see is the result of a wash and vacuum only.   Climb over. under and throughout and I know you'll come up smiling!  Rust?  Please. nbsp;this car hates rust and you won't find a thing to worry about.   Having spent a lifetime here in the Seattle area there's never been any exposure to corrosion starters.  Yes. western Washington State is famous for rain. but the winter roads are never salted.  Climb over. under and all around this car - I know you'll come up smiling!!  NO nasty rust bubbles beneath the paint on the edges. under the doors or corrosion holes around the wheel wells! Have you heard that before a HAND BUILD CAR. I believe this car has another 29 + years left on its life.

They go for more then 1. 00. 00 miles and I saw one few months ago was selling right here on ebay with 700. 00+ miles.

We just don't what to ask for this car. we still believe we can do better if someone inspect and drive before buying.

We do have 3 more.  2 1983's 300SD in actual service one of them been in service for 12 years and still going. the 2nd one forget it. runs everyday never says fix me because there never has anything to be fix. The 3rd one is a 1981 MB 300SD for parts.

But. I want you to know we love them and we spend lots of money to make them right and perfect. We just spent nearly $3. 00. 00 dollars New parts like New Compressor. New Blower Motor. The AC Valve Control etc. for the AC to blow Ice Cold Air. We spent almost $2. 00. 00 dollars to replace 2 left and right bushings in the front end to make sure it runs like new.

We did alignment. change the front tire to Michelin Tires with 90% life. etc.

CONDITION:

In total. this is a clean. well-cared-for. smoke-free Mercedes.   I take pride in the vehicles we sell and feel that you should know as much about the car as possible.   Accordingly. here is a list of the good and also a few small things needing attention: take literally two or three seconds to heat the glow plugs when starting cold and the peppy 3. 0L inline five cylinder straight diesel bulletproof engine starts immediately with only few moments of starter cranking!   The automatic transmission shifts just as it should with no slippage.  The car idles. runs and drives like a Mercedes-Benz is supposed to – strong. immediate oil pressure. strong battery and charging system. no overheating. no brake pull or perceived alignment issues!  Last week I put on almost 400 miles freeway cruising at 80+ MPH for several hours.   If you are familiar with this model. you'll notice the air cleaner assembly is different than on most other 300 series turbodiesels.  This is because the car was built to meet California emissions standards. requiring the factory to locate the turbocharger higher-up to make room for a trap-oxidizer unit and to use a different filter assembly mounted to the left of the radiator instead of on top of the engine.    Please also note that it is ABS equipped and has a driver's airbag; not something found on many mid-eighties cars! Write us tell us what you think. Because it might more like that. but we believe we have something of value and very different then many others. Bid with Confidence. Don't let this one pass you by. because its a real car.  

The factory original medium blue metallic paint is about 6. 5 out of 10 with a few spots of missing clearcoat and some fading on the metal sunroof that I am going to see what can be done without hurting the originality of the paint.  Though I'm no expert. I find no evidence of bodywork or accident repair anywhere.   The front fenders. rear quarters. doors and floor pans are all very solid; in fact the entire undercarriage is in fine shape for a 29 year-old vehicle!  No other real body flaws to point out.  All the glass is good.   I've never encountered Mercedes alloy wheels that were anything but straight and true.   These fit that bill and are wrapped with michelin Toyo Eclipse 205/70R14 touring radials with at least 80-90% tread remaining all around.

Take another good look at my interior shots.   Often. you'll find worn. disintegrating leather or vinyl seats in vintage Mercedes.   This is NOT the case here.   The original real leather covers (including the rear bench) have held up exceptionally well.  The speedometer. tachometer and odometer all work fine.  Also. the A/C system works excellent with ice cold air.     

There's no evidence of any water leakage on the headliner and the power sunroof opens/closes at the push of a dash button.   All four electric windows are functioning properly.   You will find NO evidence of cigarette smoke here.   The carpets are clean and original.   Like most vintage Benz stereos. this Becker Grand Prix model works normally.  Have an absolutely great everyday driver!

The Mercedes can be stored free of charge at my location for up to two weeks after the auction ends assuming full payment has been received.  After that period storage is $20 per day.  The Antenna  Goes up as soon as you turn on the radio. We're not done spending money until it sells. we will always fine something to do and add it on the sale price. Perfect Mechanically so far.
